He is 27 yo. That means he was 7 when Britney album came out, not everyone knows her songs and least her album fillers (not saying Lonely is a filler but you get my point). She likes him and seems comfortable around him and that the only thing that matters.

I think when Sam asked “Is this the beginning” he meant the beginning of the song because she had started the song over right before he said that… as opposed to asking if it was from the early days of her career  just an observation
