when did you realize britney wasn’t the same?

this is something i think og britney stans who were there since the early days could really relate to. i am 24 (almost 25) now and remember actually realizing how enormously impactful britney’s career was when i was maybe 4 or 5 and i found my sister’s britney (2001) cd. i remember following her career from there on. she was so lively and fun and being a fan of britney spears felt so natural. it was heartbreaking seeing 2007/2008 happen but i remember her going on the m+m’s tour and even in the scummy paparazzi videos, her personality was there.

i remember when the circus era started after the conservatorship and we knew she was stuck from the for the record doc but her personality was still there but when femme fatale, britney jean & glory had become part of her career, i remember constantly trying to explain to others that it wasn’t the same britney i fell in love with but it was almost like no one got it? and i had this deep feeling light would be shed on how different britney was. she was a robot. she looked scared. she had no confidence.

can anyone relate and do you ever remember no one else getting it? or people around you not having a deep enough understanding of britney and her situation to realize she just wasn’t the same human being? i’m curious to hear opinions on this.

Red flags during the Circus era. More than suspicious during the "3" era. And #FreeBritney activist during the Femme Fatale era.

Everything makes sense since they told her the c-ship will only last during the Circus Tour and she'll be free after.

I think it was the plan (at least for some people, others already knew and saw the big picture) that's why they released The Single Collection, to make money one last time... But then.... We know.

The Femme Fatale era was the worst thing ever. She was so depressed. I was so sad and angry for her....

I think during Circus she still looked like how an older version of Britney would be like, especially after everything she had gone through, and being a mom and stuff.

Then in 2010 when she appeared on Glee, was like, ok, she's kinda different now, but it's just a brief appearance.

and we know the rest of that era, but in later years I think we saw glimpses of Britney here and there. Tbh, it was really hard to know how much she had changed because of her circumstances, and how much was just because she was older.

I 100% believe after Circus she realized they weren’t letting her out of the conservatorship, she couldn’t even hire a lawyer, and she might be stuck like this for the rest of her life.
 

I believe she must have been terribly upset by that realization. And I believe they HEAVILY medicated her for the Femme Fatale era and beyond. That’s when some fans started to criticize her performances and dancing.

This is very rude of you. Everyone is allowed to have his own opinion. And, were you a fan back then?I became a fan with  "Born To Make You Happy".And the change of Britney was MASSIVE. And this was the time, Brit gets her first negative press.Her image changed completely.

It was also the time when the "lies" of Britney came to light. That she is no longer a virgin.

The fans didn't know what to believe her anymore

She was a teen star on the way to becoming an adult woman. The change was normal. But too big and also sudden for the fans.

Britney got too "****" and vulgar.

But it also took on crazy traits. When Britney was sunbathing on the beach, parenting associations were formed to stop her. They children could also lie in the sun and get cancer.Brit is a bad role modle.

Femme Fatale era. I just took her behavior and demeanor as her no longer being interested in being a pop star and maybe she wasn't considering what it meant so I stopped interacting as much with her brand. I was still listening to music but I wasn't interested in going to her shows anymore because it felt off. Little did I know.

It was the femme fatale era for me. In the videos for hold it against me and till the world ends that she clearly looked very bored and didn’t wanna be there. And the promo performances make me cringe.

I noticed during the Circus era when she filmed that special for MTV and walked off set because she was mad about something (I can’t remember what it was) and fans were tweeting about it like crazy.  Then when it aired she was super peeved throughout the entire thing.  She was still in there though and came through a lot through the circus era….but in 2010 it all shifted and it was clear that she was in a bad place all the way up until 2015 (when she got the mermaid hair).  This was when she appeared to be in much better spirits and her performances became more passionate.  Then after POM ended, it went downhill again through the POM tour.

I think that interview near the beginning of the Femme Fatale era when she had straight hair & was wearing that blue button up, she was acting so different and looked so sad.

Change was noticed in the Femme Fatal era her face had age by 10 years in a matter of a year. She just looked miserable
