ACLU Files Amicus Brief to Support Britney Spears

”The ACLU on Tuesday filed an amicus brief in support of Britney Spears as the pop star attempts to free herself from a 13-year conservatorship she called “abusive” in a testimony last month. 

The ACLU filed the brief along with 25 civil and disability organizations in support of Spears’ wish to choose her own attorney, which is prohibited by the conservatorship. Spears’ court-appointed lawyer, Samuel Ingham III, resigned from the case last week. The brief, filed with the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, also calls for her to be given access to assistance and tools to make her selection for his replacement.”

I’m glad the ACLU is doing this. And Britney is not the only one in a conservatorship this happens to.

Just think 13 years and now the ACLU, and Britney still hasn’t been able to hire her own lawyer. Hopefully that changes tomorrow! Judge Penny do the right thing.

God I’m so happy and thankful they did this. There’s way too much pressure on Penny now  , unless she wants to have her career destroyed she’ll have to agree to this (as she should because there’s literally no reason or basis for her to deny it).
