20 years ago when I had the pleasure of co-writing this song with Britney for her third studio album we were all reading the script to the movie “Crossroads” that she was making at the time. We pulled the idea (concept) of the song from her relationship with her on-screen father in the movie (Dan Ackroyd) who was a bit controlling and didn’t want to let her grow up. This is what you might call ironic. I don’t know the whole story and my opinion has been asked a lot lately, but I will say she is quite possibly one the sweetest human beings I’ve ever spent time with. Something doesn’t seem right about what’s happening to her. I wish her the best. #FreeBritneySpears

 

He collaborated with Britney on "Lonely", "Anticipating", "Let Me Be", "That's Where You Take Me", "Before the Goodbye", "I Run Away", "Brave New Girl", "Don't Hang Up" and "My Only Wish (This Year)"...

One of my favourites from this album, it's a literal shame 'Britney' album has not been appreciated - this album is pure gold - fantastic transition from bubblegum teen top - she had a lot of creative control on this one and not even bit I was/am disappointed by this album. 

I really don't understand why on Spotify it's her least played album.

Totally agree. Its my 3rd fave and I'm shocked its so low on spotify!!

It's only because "Britney" (the album) doesn't have any "major" hit like others. Hits monopolize most of the streams in these albums, that's why some are so high. Numbers (specially albums) on streaming platforms are relative.

Britney has more hits than her other albums. Slave, Boys, INAGNYAW, and Overprotected came from this album. There were six singles all together released from Britney not including two of her most popular remixes. The album was released at the height of her celebrity. It’s extremely under appreciated by the GP, but not because it doesn’t have any “hits”

“I Run Away” was originally written for Crossroads too, but the execs said it was too somber for the movie

another one of those songs that really resonated when I was a teen girl and needing freedom to just BE and now it is somehow so super applicable to her situation today, which is wild.
