Lynne Spears requests that Britney is allowed to hire her own attorney as she has proven she has capacity

Britney's mom Lynne is asking that Britney be allowed the basic right to choose her own lawyer. She says Britney has proven she has capacity to make decisions.

"Conservatee needs private counsel to advise her as to her basic rights in this conservatorship. Petitioner respectfully requests that the issue of Conservatee hiring private counsel be heard on an expedited basis."

It goes on to say: "It is beyond dispute that this is a unique conservatorship... Now, and for the past many years, Conservatee [Britney] is able to care for her person and in fact has, inside the parameters of this conservatorship, earned literally hundreds of millions of dollars as an international celebrity."

"To earn this money, Conservatee has had to perform in fromt of millions of people, has had to manage hundreds of performances, has had to use her artistic and creative talents to prepare for shows by choreographing each and every move for and interacting with many co-perofrmers, and has had to rehearse and perform for many thousands of hours over the years."

Elsewhere, it says: "Her capacity is certainly different today than it was in 2008, and Conservatee should no longer be held to the 2008 standard, whereby she was found to "not have the capacity to retain counsel."

Either way, this seems like it could help Britney's case. I agree, it's VERY late, and I highly doubt her lawyer would be making this request if Team Con wasn't a sinking ship. But regardless, this seems like a win for Brit.

It’s nice that Lynne’s lawyers are standing up for Britney. They are clearly the reason anything has changed at all and hopefully Britney will get to hire her own private lawyer that actually works for her so she’ll have two sets of lawyers looking out for HER interest in the process of getting out of this c-ship. 
 

And Britney definitely has a reason to be angry with her entire family, but I really think her mom in the beginning just wanted to save her daughter and didn’t know how, and the rest of the years just didn’t know what she could do. Yes she should have done more but I still think she was more afraid to but cut out of Britney’s life completely and maybe she naively believed everything Jamie told her.
