Iggy Azalea reveals why she spoke up about Britney's dad

Iggy Azalea recently spoke out in defense of Britney. You can read about that here.

The following is an excerpt from People:

The Australian rapper, 31, told People she broke her silence because she would have wanted other artists to support her if she were in the same position.

'I know her and love her. She's such an icon and inspiration and was so kind to me that if I could help her in any way that I can, then I want to do that,' she said. 

Iggy, who collaborated with Britney on the track Pretty Girls in 2015, said she'd previously kept quiet to respect her friend's 'privacy'.

But after watching the Toxic singer's public court hearing on June 23, in which she begged to be released from her conservatorship, she couldn't stay silent any longer.

'I just thought if I were in her shoes, I would want my friends to back me up. I felt like, you know what? Regardless of what people might think about it, I have to say something,' she said.

Iggy claimed last week she'd 'personally witnessed' Britney's father Jamie control her life while they worked together in 2015, and also alleged he'd forced her to sign an NDA to perform with Britney.

Love her for speaking up!!! This may be an an ignorant question ….but if she was forced to sign an NDA can she legally speak about what she experienced?

It is impossible to say without seeing the contract she signed but my guess is that technically no. With good lawyers she probanly can get away with it andI doubt that team con will sue her because that would look very suspicious and give them bad publicity

I have literally been wondering this. Are there worse things she wants to say, but can't? Or is she putting herself in legal trouble by what she's said already?

she doesn't even have a copy of the contract, so who knows

 

probably the contract is very general or very vague, or very specific. Let's remember that performance was pre-recorded, maybe it was related to not revealing details about it until the day it was aired or who knows. I just keep wondering how they would make different NDA's for every single project Britney has done these years, so maybe they just use the same for everything who knows. I'm also surprised Iggy didn't have a manager with her in that moment to defend her, like why did Jamie come to her directly with a contract?

Honestly good for her for speaking out and standing up for Britney (despite any NDA she may have signed). The fact she witnessed what Britney described during her court hearing proves she’s not a liar.

That is so true. And I didn't know it was prerecorded. Interesting. Still, a crew ready to go and her holding everything up because Jamie "won't let her on stage" has merit. But I would assume Iggy's manager/team would be upset about not having appropriate time to look through a contract. I don't know enough about legal things. Regardless, glad she spoke up. ❤️

I love that Iggy is a good and positive person in her life. Seems like she genuinely cares and respects Brit enough to treat her like a normal person, I bet that’s all Britney really wants..

that's really unfair because they're coming with whatever "evidence" they'll use as proof, but they won't let Britney bring the testimony of people that could confirm her claims
