Such a boring year in cinema. Surprised to see “Promising Young Woman” being nominated. Personally thought the movie was pure garbage.

Vanessa Kirby’s performance was good though.

I love Promising Young Woman, but it's not a perfect one in my eyes.

I also love Vanessa Kirby's performance, but sadly she's not winning anything.

I actually watched pretty much all of the Oscar movies this year.

I thought Sound of Metal was incredible and would love if it won best picture. I don’t think it will. But i hope it wins something.

Wow! I didn't get to see some. How would you rank them? It would be nice to see which contenders you're rooting for.

Sound of Metal is a very tasteful choice I must say :clap_clapping_britney_xfactor_red_excited_yay_cheer:

For best picture...

1. sound of metal

2. the father - I really liked the way it was shot

3. promising young woman - I think it was an amazing movie with an important message. I think it's a movie many people should see.

4. trial of the Chicago 7 - I love a good courtroom drama and everyone in the movie did really well

5. minari
6. nomadland (both minari and nomadland are def leaning towards art movies where it's about the mood/tone/feeling - for that reason I think one of those two will win. I can def appreciate them but I'm more into plot driven movies. )

7. judas and the black messiah - I found it was a lot going on and I couldn't focus. I wish my state of mind was better going in.

8. mank - BLAHHHH LOL I could see it winning cause Hollywood loves movies about Hollywood. I thought the screenplay and dialogue was well written but other than that it was a bit dull for me. I just didnt care enough about the story and thought it was also soooooo long.

I thought ma raineys black bottom was really good too, I love movies that are confined to one set or one day and focus a lot on script and characters as opposed to action. (except 'one night in Miami' - I thought was terrible and boring and so disappointing considering the famous characters. I hope it doesn't win ****.)

Another Round was also so predictable, I actually turned it off 3/4 of the way through - I'm surprised it's actually nominated for best director...??

the white tiger was soooooo good!! its on Netflix and I urge people to watch it. I hope it wins best adapted screenplay. it reminded me a lot of slumdog millionaire but was a bit darker and more gritty. it was awesome.

News of the world was a nice feel good movie but I didnt think it was anything special beyond that.

Considering I'm a showbiz writer I actually don't really care for the Oscars THAT much, I'm more of a music awards person. I like films but I tend not to watch the major blockbusters that get nominated.

I feel like I should care more though....

For some reason, I care more about Oscars than Grammys. I feel like Grammys has truly become Scammys over the years.

Yeah I do agree to an extent... but eh, I barely know the films nominated so I can't really predict who will win.
