Mobeen Azhar will explore her life, and the ongoing conservatorship...

The BBC will explore new developments in the life of Britney Spears with an incoming documentary.

The 60 minute film aims to explore the legal wrangles surrounding her conservatorship, as well as depicting the support of her fandom.

 

Mobeen Azhar will host the film, which moves from Los Angeles to Britney’s hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana, featuring never-before-seen interviews with Britney’s makeup artist Billy Brasfield, her former choreographer Brian Friedman, media figure Perez Hilton and lawyer Lisa MacCarley.

 

Alongside this, the film also profiles key figures from the #FreeBritney movement.

The move follows a recent high profile documentary for Sky, titled Framing Britney Spears.

The Battle for Britney: Fans, Cash and a Conservatorship will hit iPlayer on May 1st, with a full BBC Two broadcast to follow on May 5th at 9pm.

Mobeen Azhar is a BBC journalist, regular reporter for NPR's This World, and Prince fanatic. His documentary Hunting for Prince's Vault was a worldwide hit, airing on BBC News 24, BBC World Service, and NPR, and spawning countless newspaper and online articles. He interviewed many of Prince's associates, some of them speaking about Prince for the first time. Mobeen has reported for BBC's the One Show, Assignment, and 5Live Investigates, as well as appearing on the Huffington Post Live and writing for Rolling Stone. He has won an Amnesty International award and has been nominated for a One World Media Award and a BAFTA award. He has attended 53 Prince concerts and even appeared onstage with the man himself. He lives in the UK.

The BBC will soon be releasing a new 60-minute film titled The Battle for Britney: Fans, Cash and a Conservatorship, which is being led by journalist Mobeen Azhar.

The documentary will see Mobeen travel from Los Angeles to Kentwood, Louisiana, where the Hit Me Baby One More Time singer grew up, as he investigates her 13-year conservatorship.

His journey will result in him attending a court hearing, while also ‘finding himself in the midst of the ongoing battle between Britney’s conservatorship team and the passionate fans behind the #FreeBritney movement’.

Mobeen’s efforts result in him speaking to individuals on both sides of the issue, with several new interviews conducted with people who know Britney well being released.

The interviewees include the musician’s make-up artist Billy Brasfield, her former choreographer Brian Friedman, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton and lawyer Lisa MacCarley.

The film will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer from Saturday May 1, before airing on BBC Two on Wednesday May 5 at 9pm.

Kinda yikes on the Perez and Billy B thing, but I'm hopefully for a decent doc. The BBC is great at what they do, and I'd like to think their interviews will be minimal. That is so soon too! I'm excited -

Balloon B was awful on that australian documentary, so i have no hope of him being any good on that british doc and unless Perez is in this doc just to be called out for bullying Britney back in 2007, then they can cut him cause this trash is not wanted. 

Lisa on the other hand, will add some legitimacy and will spill true facts about how corrupted this whole situation is.

It´s 2021 already, why do they keep giving PIG HILTON  a platform to spread hate, hate and more hate??? He is one of the many people who not only attacked Britney but for people like him and that other hungry photographer Carlos, that Britney had to go through so much media pressure. The only worthy person among those people is lawyer Lisa and maybe, idk that much of him but Bryan not only was her dancer and choreographer but he (at one time) seemed to be her friend and he has always said nice things about her, so let´s see....

I would rather wait for the 2nd part of the NYT documentary, it was beautifully done.
