PokemonSpears
On April 03, 2011, MTV aired a special titled I am the Femme Fatale. In it, MTV News' Sway Calloway interviews Britney Spears about the process of creating her seventh studio album Femme Fatale, which came out at the end of March of that year. She also talks about her childhood, the beginnings of her career, past music videos, we see her at the studio with will.i.am and there's also behind the scenes footage of the Till the World Ends Music video. There's also a bit of rehearsals and the actual performance at Rain Nightclub inside the Palms Casino Resort to promote the release of the album. 1 Link to comment

Yes, definitely you could see huge difference in both physical appearance and the way she was talking compared to the Circus era where she was completely “normal”, for example in the For the record documentary of making of the Circus video or Candies photo shoot etc, she was “there” in her eyes and behaved like the Britney we knew, maybe broken and not happy with the situation she was in, but it was her. I think that she was like ,,Ok I’ll do everything you want me to” and the conservatorship is gonna be over after one year (as she was promised), but then they made it indefinite and I think huge amount of medication was applied to “calm her” so she wouldn’t fight against it and they could milk her on and on cause they realized it’s such a good business model :/ so yeah you could definitely see throughout the whole FF era that she was very off :( Even though I was happy about the new album and tour and everything, now that I know everything we all know it makes me really sad looking back... Must have been so hard for her. 10 Link to comment
MortalMarshmallow
She sounded so depressed and looked like a discount, aged clone version of herself. I was so shocked and sad when watching this back then . True Britney ended after 🎪. Real Britney has hopefully been living nice somewhere in Alaska or Mexico for a decade now . 6 2 Link to comment

Yes me too , I was like , what is wrong ? She seems really uninterested , and now everything makes sense I was so unaware of the situation thinking okay it's obvious she doesn't like doin it , so why she doing it ? I started realizing things only later .... Link to comment
J in the Mix
This special is very difficult to watch. She seemed so drowsy and physically different and overall seemed so uncomfortable when you compare this to For the Record. I'm no doctor but anyone can observe and compare the two specials/eras and see that something was going on with her. The whole thing was typical Team Con scripted and controlled. I wonder what Sway's experience was like on this & if he'd ever expose what went on behind the scenes. I remember at the time it aired delusional fans here were saying SHE HAD A COLD. A long-term cold that lasted the entire FF era...? 3 3 Link to comment

Crabo Lavender Turmeric
I remember that many people simply thought that she did not want to perform anymore (including me :() . It kind of sucks that fans and even critics were so critical at the time: critical of her lack of involvement in FF's production & writing, her looks, her choreography, her unwillingness to promote. 1 Link to comment
davidspears
I visualise myself in that situation, of having to talk to strangers about myself and my life. The only thing I can compare it to is when I have to go for a job interview and my stomach is in knots. I couldn't do that everyday, she has done it for 20 years. 1 Link to comment
ivosoares
The difference between 2010 and 2011 will forever haunt me. What in the hell happened for her face, eyes and expression to look like that. I always thought maybe she did some procedure and it didn’t work out to well? But I really can’t tell what what happened there besides heavy medication 1 2 Link to comment
ivosoares
But I mean, she’s human, if I was forced to work under a Conservatorship and depressed af i would probably look a lot worse than that lol Link to comment

If I was that medicated I wouldn't leave my bed all day, but somehow she managed to do the choreos and videos and interviews and everything 4 Link to comment
Korb
I honestly thought she was going to retire after this. Not just because of how miserable and disconnected her behavior seemed, but also because Sway asked her about the future of her career and she responded with "...maybe just do nothing". 5 1 Link to comment

LMAOO same, I was convinced that this era was the end when she vaguely responded like that 1 1 Link to comment
