Pink mentions Britney in the making of the Lady Marmalade video

The choreographer for the Lady Marmalade video gave each woman a prop to work with, and Pink's solo dance incorporated a chair into the routine. 

Britney's video for Stronger had come out before this, so Pink wanted less emphasis on the chair, to draw less comparisons to the Stronger video. 

From Cosmopolitan magazine:

"I wanted them to have props—it’s more relaxing when you have a prop to play with. With Pink, we had a chair, and the conflict was that Britney Spears had just released her “Stronger” video with a chair routine. Pink walks in—she wasn’t at all mean, she’s very respectful and very nice—and was kind of like, “No, Britney did that, I’m not doing that.” So we made it not about the chair. She was the star; the chair was just there to play off of."

Edit: the same article tells us about how Pink was not getting along with Christina on set! I think she's solidly on team Britney.

I will never realize why Britney wasn't invited into this song tbh? Like, she was THE *** symbol of those times  I mean the song is still iconic, but it would be 10 times more if Britney had participated. Idk, it just feels like a weird decision to not have the biggest star of the moment into a strong song lol

True but it was iconic when all of those artists collaborated. Britney can be iconic all by herself!

True. Britney didn’t need them. Some of those artist went off into obscurity and other flopped big time. Meanwhile, Britney has remained an untouchable legend.

Who would you remove from the song? I'd personally give Pink Xtinas parts (since she wanted them anyway) and Give Britney Pinks parts.

Britney doesn't have a voice for that song. She would feel out of place. Unless she didn't sing it in breathy baby voice.

Not in 2001-2002. Britney only became sassy in 2003.

True she emulated Britney, I believe Britney could have fit there. BUT I actually loved that Britney remained iconic, and only did a real collab "feat" with Rihanna until 2011

It’s been said on interviews the producers wanted “strong vocalists”.  

But really, I think it was more of a scheduling thing. Can’t all be about the belts. Range is just one aspect of vocal agility. Notice how Mya complements the others so well. She sweetens up the very strong (very loud) P!nk and Christina. With the theme and the dancing, B would’ve been stellar. She must’ve been offered at some point. Like Tilt Ya Head Back, for example.
