I work in a Law firm and speak to the Court/Judges a lot and Sam/Vivian could have EASILY have re-arranged the hearing beforehand.

They are literally draining her money, so much wasted costs for this 5 minute 'hearing'.

That’s what I was wondering too, like was this necessary? But they’ve been doing this for forever now. Of course they see no reason in speeding up things, makes them less money.

At work I can literally call the Court the day before a hearing and cancel it/re-arrange - why on earth are Sam/Vivian wasting court time and un-needed costs!

we know the judge will always prefer the parties to agree on things outside of the court room, but as Slayer said, they could've saved this 5 min hearing by informing the judge beforehand
