Britney Spears's Dad Jamie Refutes Republicans Gaetz & Jordan's claims: the conservatorship is there to protect Britney

Jamie Spears denies claims made by House Republicans Matt Gaetz and Jim Jordan, who wrote a letter to congress citing Britney Spears' conservatorship as an example of alleged conservatorship abuse and calls Jamie's motives questionable. 

Mr. Spears via his lawyer, Vivian Thoreen, who serves as his mouthpiece, tells TMZ that's flat out wrong. 

TMZ recants what Thoreen told them: "the conservatorship has been a system of checks and balances with annual accountings, reviews and expert opinions. Not only that, Thoreen tells us Britney and her own legal team have been a part of the decisions involving the conservatorship over the years."

They add: "She continues by laying out the structure of the conservatorship, saying, 'Britney’s Conservatorship of the Estate was co-managed by a private professional fiduciary and her father until early 2019.  At that time, Britney requested in court papers that her father be the sole conservator of her estate. Her Conservatorship of the Person is not managed by her father but by a private professional fiduciary.'"

Gaetz and Jordan called Jamie's motives "questionable" in their letter. Thoreen denies that as well, saying: "Jamie Spears has diligently and professionally carried out his duties as one of Britney’s conservators, and his love for his daughter and dedication to protecting her is clearly apparent to the court."

Thoreen also mentions that neither Britney nor her legal team have ever filed a petition to end the conservatorship.

Its funny that this Bolsonaro wannabe talks about protecting her, so why did he push her to work right after she was placed under a cship bc of him? Why he continues to allow that Instagram he owns to post those ****ty edits when he knows damn well people call her crazy bc of that? What about giving her privacy when she can't even speak and defend herself while his lawyer is doing the same Kevin's lawyer always did? What about not abusing her sons, the reason why she ended up accepting this cship in the first place? What about not giving 500k to Lou right away when Britney isn't even working? What about not forcing Britney to go to a ****ty 1 star facility? What about not talking about Britney resuming her career when she's refusing to work while he's still in charge? And thinking about what all this circus he created is doing to his "little sick girl" just bc he refuses to step down, the only thing she's asking him now? 

He only thinks about himself and saving his powerful "friends" no matter what this costs to Britney. Father of the year.

And then I remember that Jamie isn't in it for the money, he's in it for control. And no innocent human being deserves to be under the heavy "protection" that Britney's under. Except Vivian's really not that good at her job - she's literally doing the bare minimum based on the narrative that's been pushed all these years - Britney's crazy, she need the cship, she doesn't know what's best for her, blah blah blah. She asked about ending the cship to the other laywer she talked to in 2009 saying Jamie threatned her with her kids. If Ingham was doing smt back then, would she feel the need to call another laywer behind his back to ask about the process of eliminating the cship?

Yeah this is what pisses me off the most, not only as a Britney fan, but as a practicing lawyer who admittedly is not well-versed in estate law but I am when it comes to courts and legal pleadings in general. There are a myriad of reasons that Britney never filed such a petition, and I'm hoping Ingham is competent enough to poke as many holes in this argument as possible. 

In the eyes of the courts and the law, Britney is a child. She doesn't have the power to speak for herself or effectively communicate her wishes to her counsel without oversight by others. Vivian is now trying to argue that because there is so much oversight that the conservatorship must be legitimate, but it's just the opposite. How do we know Britney hasn't requested this petition be filed in the past but was struck down? Was Britney ever made aware this was an option? Was she threatened with restricted access to her children if she filed this petition? 

I can have a client say to me I want you to file x, y, and z - that doesn't mean I'm going to do so, and the reason for that is generally people hire a lawyer to guide them through legal proceedings. I'm not going to file a baseless motion if I genuinely think it will ultimately hurt their case just because they think they know better than me. However, I will present all options to them and work with them in order to best serve their interests in a way that is beneficial to them, but at the end of the day, the only people involved in these discussions is myself and the client and possibly a senior partner at the firm. If I'm representing a child (usually in the context of personal injury due to a car accident or slip and fall etc but not because of parental abuse - that's family court), it ultimately comes down to what their parent or legal guardian wants to do. 

In Britney's case, it's not just her and Sam Ingham sitting together going over strategy - it's doctors, judges, other attorneys and professionals who all stand to benefit from Britney being silenced, as well as Jamie. I'm not sure whether Britney's communications with Sam are privileged when it comes to Jamie, because if I represent a minor, I'm doing so through their guardian as a clientl and there's no privilege as to what I can or can't disclose to the guardian. Accordingly, Vivian's argument is the ultimate red herring and it's super transparent.

She can't under the conservatorship, which is why Vivian can spout all the BS she wants without real consequences then go home and cackle into her cauldron. Britney is not legally capable of hiring independent counsel, as shown when she tried to retain Adam Streisand and was struck down. The corruption is real
