Which is my point? The bulk of this album had been put since early-mid 2019, but the album wasn't released until late august 2020, so framing it around the release of the album seems disengenious.

They did, it is part of the new system as “adjusted sales” or the selling point of records these days. Smile already sold 500K worldwide just based off the standalone singles; Never Really Over, Harleys In Hawaii, Daisies and Smile, right before the initial release in August 28th.

No. 

Witness has only sold more than 840K worldwide sales as of January 2018, seven months after the initial release. So Smile garnering 1.25 million with just six months is still impressive for a No.5 debut.

I don’t get why people are still hung up on album sales. Music is dead. It’s too fast now. The real test is touring and concerts.

I’m still shook by the fact Not the End of the World and Harleys in Hawaii both flopped more than the album/era itself. HIH even had a great music video to promote, but can’t say the same for NTEOTW. It was like they put the song over a dry humor short movie.

Her singles are great. Her albums as of late as a cohesive project and theme seems a bit ... underwhelming over the years of course.

Fireworks was so great. I wish she would bring that magic back.

I like Katy but we would need certified numbers even the latest are not as impressive as they should be. If Prime Britney had the opportunity of YOUTUBE and Instagram and social in general she would have broken all the records while Katy is barely hanging on. Katy is throwing a pity party for herself while mocking Britney's mental health.

The problem we have is longevity. Britney remained relevant and still is. Her last album launched a top #20 hit. Britney has survived 20+ years and had hit after hit. Let's see where Katy is in the next 10 years.
