We talking overall sales not first week sales. And didn’t Smile debut with 50K first week sales? Idk what point you’re trying to make here because both the albums you mentioned sold more in their first week in 2013 and 2016. Smile is not even in Femme Fatale’s era year-in-the-game wise and let’s not compare FF with Smile’s sales. Just take the L and sit down Olive

Well she released 4 stand alone singles in the spam of 1 year before the album was even announced, and the 3 most played singles were included in the tracklist.  So I imagine the sps count had a very considerable impact in sales overall. I just dont get why she didnt included Small Talk, its not a bad song and goes well along with other tracks from Smile and could push the number higher.

Its one of the new strategies for the streaming era though. This is and making 2 minutes songs. Sam Smith did the same thing, all the stand alone singles he released and promoted way before the album were included in it by release making the sps numbers sky rock in the end.

I wish Britney could use this. Spend a year promoting 3 to 4 singles to include them in the new album and save the actual banger for the album release along with a documentary/show like she did for the ABC Special. Its better than release the first single, release the album, then a while later release the second single and then forget about the era.

Katy and her music remains basic. I guess her sales did well because the remaining fans she does have are in the age range of 5-12 asked their parents to buy them it. We know kids love clowns 

Don't you dare come for Britney's sales, when Britney was many more years into her career than Katy. Also Britney's accomplishments and impact on the music industry and much more significant than Katy Perry's.

After 4 weeks the album left the Billboard 200 serving chart run like that - 5-50-105-150-OUT starting with only 50K units, i'm sure 1.25 are the combined CSPS units not the pure sales.

To be honest though, I wasn't a huge fan of Smile at all, but I did enjoy a couple of songs from it.
