Britney Spears' father Jamie tells CNN he would "love nothing more than to see Britney not need a conservatorship"

Jamie Spears says he, too, wishes the conservatorship could come to an end. 

"[Jamie] would love nothing more than to see Britney not need a conservatorship," Jamie's lawyer Vivian Thoreen tells CNN. "Whether or not there is an end to the conservatorship really depends on Britney. If she wants to end her conservatorship, she can file a petition to end it." 

"Jamie is not suggesting that he is the perfect dad or that he would receive any 'Father of the Year' award. Like any parent, he doesn't always see eye-to-eye on what Britney may want. But Jamie believes every single decision he has made has been in her best interest," Thoreen added.

CNN reached out to Britney's representatives but they had no comment. Britney's attorney, Samuel D. Ingham III, told CNN he "can't comment on a pending case."

"Jamie never contested or objected to Bessemer being appointed as his co-conservator. And at the last hearing, it was reported that Jamie was trying to get more power than his co-conservator, and that is completely inaccurate. What we were arguing is that Jamie and his co-conservator should have equal power, that was always consistent," Thoreen said. 

Vivian told CNN that her client has no control over whether his daughter needs a conservatorship and that it is entirely up to the court. 

"The court investigator also interviews everyone who is involved in the conservatorship, and they do a deep dive to really study the conservatorship to find out what's going on. And what I can tell you is every year the court has kept the conservatorship in place," she said. 

CNN says they confirmed with the Los Angeles Superior Court that conservatorships undergo a review process. The courts would not specifically comment on Britney's conservatorship.

"When the pandemic hit and everyone had to stay at home, Britney wanted to go home. She wanted to see her family," Thoreen said. "Jamie unquestionably loves Britney, and he misses her very much. But he also respects her, and he wants to give her autonomy and space. And as I've said before, like any other family, there are ups and downs. So, Jamie is respectful of Britney's space, and he is also respectful of her attorney's request that he not contact her. But the key is Britney knows that she can contact her daddy anytime and that he will be there for her. Whether or not there's a conservatorship, Jamie will love Britney."

Copy paste statement they’ve been using since the very beginning. At this point just shut up please. I remember how they tried to give her and us hope when she was supposed to get married to Jason. I remember an article saying Jamie would love to get the cship lifted if a doctor gives “him” the ok and Britney does well with Jason because entrusting her to him is already a big step. Something like that. How many times can you use that same statement, especially right now when everybody knows it’s not true? Makes me think they have a queue for this crap that posts these automatically lol

Part of me feels like the conservatorship was going to happen anyways and Jamie just stepped in as a middle man to try and protect Britney from strangers but it all ended up backfiring on him - but that's just me wanting to believe that someone would want the best for their child. Its so sad. I pray that all of this is happening as it is meant to happen and that Britney doesn't end up stuck with legal strangers making decisions for her. Sorry - this whole situation just makes me nervous lol

Sorry, I am just nervous about this whole thing. I just pray that Jamie out of the picture is Britney making progress to freedom and not her just getting permanently stuck. I am cautiously optimistic.

Wow. They really need to just stop. It looks so silly trying to act like they would just step aside "if Britney would just file the petition." Isn't she asking at this very moment that Jamie be removed? They keep trying to spin it that Britney wanted this. The way Vivian talks like an abuser doesn't sit right with me. They just don't hear "no." Britney was right in FTR. She's talking but they ain't listening.

I wonder if this lawyer has read the comments from the GMA interview? To me she’s coming across more empathetic and soft in this one.  Sorry I’m not buying it and in MY opinion I think she’s adapted to sound less scripted and less robotic. Ugh I can’t stand these people.

FTR, I understand where you are coming from whether I agree or not (I don't haha) and it makes perfect sense.  If the conservatorship was going to happen, outside of Jamie/family, I can understand where you are coming from.  Knowing what we know about Jamie however, makes this thought such a stretch for us all. But again, I get what you're saying.

Yeah, I am all for Britney getting what she wants - if she wants Jamie out then that's fine. I think I am just beginning to feel nervous because it seems like Jamie is GOING to get booted out, all of the pressure has been steered toward him by the machine and it makes me question it all. I know the conservatorship is 100% unfair but I just need to be 100% on the circumstances that it was built on.
