i dont know how its called in italy, my grandmother teach me how to cook one. In greece we just called it σαλτσα ντοματας maybe even just σαλτσα , wich translate to tomato sause or just sause beacause its very common in greek cusine

yes it's the same, it's sauce made only with tomato. When we made "sugo" we put in it a lot of other things along tomato
