RIP: Capitol Records will no longer promote 'Smile' by Katy Perry

Multiple Katy Perry fan accounts on Twitter claimed that Capitol had decided to stop funding any more promotion for Katy Perry's latest album release 'Smile'. 

'Smile' has been the least successful era of Katy so far in her career. Despite massive efforts to promote album before the release, she was unable to carry out any promotion during its release week due to her giving birth. 

Her last 2 promotional efforts 'Smile' and 'Not the End of the World' failed to chart anywhere (except No. 73 for Smile in UK). Fans were anticipating the next single release 'Cry About It Later', but it seemed like the era is officially over although justbecauseitsoverdoesntmeanitsreallyoverandifIthinkitovermaybeyoullbecomingoveragainandillhavetogetoveryoualloveragain

Tbh, as a fan of Katy, the tracklist of Smile is not as strong. And the songs have no impact or whatsoever. Better to shelve it and move on to the next album with better materials.

It doesn't give me hope to be honest. 

She's had a lot of time to do Smile, and they were mostly bops that needed a bit of extra elements.

I would hate for her to work with Dr. Luke but 'Say So' just showed that he still got it.

If the Glory Era was considered a 4 year cycle counting the rerelease. I will consider the Smile Era starting back in may 2019/Never Really Over. The album had 7 singles (like it or not). She had a long era and might of not went her way but she did have really good visuals even with the flopped singles
