What are your thoughts on open relationships?

What are your thoughts on open relationships? Would you ever be in one?

I personally wouldn't ever agree to be in one, I think it'd just lead to insecurities and I wouldn't want to 'share' who i'm with.

However, fair play to people who are in open relationships and make it work.

I think they are fine if both parties agree to the rules but personally... it’s a slippery slope to an affair and emotional feelings. My boyfriend and I have talked about it but we both agreed against it because it just didn’t sit right with us.

if you need to find other people you aren't a real couple  It's more close to a couple of friends with benefit who enjoy to meet other people together

I really disagree. I totally see emotional connection and ***ual connection as different thing

 

personally I would never do it. I’ve never had a partner but even now I can’t handle the thought of them doing something w someone else lmao

I could never do it, I am strictly monogamous. I couldn't imagine asking my SO what they were up too and have them reply "I am going on a date" lol. I would be too jealous and connected to people to share

While I can understand it, it doesnt work for me. Im sure monogamy is just like ***ual orientation, some people are monogamous and some are simply not. Luckily we live in the 21st century where people get to choose how their relationships look like, and more importantly, can find people who think alike.

I've tried it in the past as the last resort to save my relationship and it just spiraled down. One person always enjoys it while the other suffers, just my opinion. 

To each their own though. I prefer monogamy by all means

People should do whatever is right for them but me personally, I couldn't do it. I can't stand the thought of sharing my girlfriend.  

I used to be one of those edgy people that talked about how monogamy was just an illusion, no one can stay committed forever, etc etc. Falling in love sobered me up quick.

I can not do it. It’s just something that makes me angry and jealous. If I’m with someone I want all of their attention. So I don’t like sharing.

No. Someone eventually gets hurt. Either you feel bad for hurting your spouse or you feel neglected when you start to sense your partner developing a greater connection (whether ***ual or not) with another guy. And if you don't, well ... your just a sociopath I guess. I guess it doesn't matter then.

As long as i'm not bound to live under the same roof as my "open" partner nor sharing my economy with him, as potential jealousy and irreconcilable differences would likely become an eventual problem .

Then i think it's fine. I wouldn't though unless it's an arrangement where my partner is only open to gay relationships and i get to be with both of them... and they should both be hella fine looking ofc .

I honestly think it's a great idea. You live, spend time, have fun with the one you love and more or less occasionally also get to have fun with others. Such relationships can last longer since both partners won't get bored only mating with the same face, body, soul all the time for the rest of their lives. Many adult actors, for instance, are in open relationships.

Monogamous relationships can work too, but oftentimes, one partner (if not both) get bored, and cheating/adultery occurs. How many monogamous marriages ended up in a divorce? Open relationships can of course end, but if both mates truly agree to it, it may definitely add spice to that living arrangement. What matters is the mates actually love each other; the others are just fun on the side.
