Quote

(CNN Business)Parler, the alternative social media platform favored by conservatives, now finds itself virtually homeless on the internet as Amazon (AMZN), Apple (AAPL) and Google (GOOGL) have all booted it from their platforms in a span of a little more than 24 hours.

Amazon said it would remove Parler from its cloud hosting service, Amazon Web Services, Sunday evening, effectively kicking it off of the public internet after mounting pressure from the public and Amazon employees.

I can't post twitter links for some reason so heres the link: -

Do you count this as a win? Personally i find it interesting that a social media platform has been taken down so quickly, i imagine this quick action is due to what happened at capitol.

But whats BreatheHeavys view? Do you care? Are you glad? Do you feel censored?

One thing I want to point out is that Donald Trump wanted media outlets that didn’t support him and reported “fake news” shut down, but it didnt happen. Now that the roles have been reversed conservatives are crying first amendment. The first amendment doesnt cover private organizations like Twitter, Amazon, FB etc.

What does concern me is that our United States constitution was not designed to address new technology. On top of that people get a lot of news off these social networks, so its created quite the conundrum.

In a sense it feels like if you arent with  the left wing groups you aren’t allowed to have a voice on social media. I’d like to add that I am as liberal as they come haha, but something smells fishy.

The USA really needs to re-evaluate the constitution and amend some items i.e.  Right to bare arms and Freedom of Speech.

Another thing I wanna touch on is section 230 - its been around since 1996 and people are just now whining about it, but thats because social media companies can ban you if they feel like you are offensive and people can’t sue...

I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens...

Is this a safe space for Republicans?  🤔

No. Jordan is a liberal democrat so news postings are geared to promote the democratic agenda. And if anyone here is Rep and expresses their views, they get called names and harassed.

I've learned to read political threads here and not post in them. For obvious reasons people are extremely passionate about their views. Most of the time there's no point on speaking on it here; most can't debate cordially and without emotion. But more power to you if you choose to partake! :awyeah_britney_yes_yas::cardi_b_yes_tongue_haha_cocky:
