In 2000 Britney Was Offered 7.5M For Her V-Card

The year was 2000 and a young pop star turned phenomenon was barely 18. All eyes were on her and every young teen wanted to be like her. People across the world tuned into her every move and were eager for what she would do next.

Before infamous downfall and before the snake performance along with her mega famous relationship with Justin Timberlake there was the question of her virginity. How can someone who exemplifies being an angelic virgin also radiate ***? Shes an angel one minute and a lolita the next. Is she or is she not a virgin?

Back then people were so obsessed with this that someone offered Britney Spears 7.5 Million in exchange for her virginity. The kicker? Her then label Jive Records made her aware of this offer. Why? To help stir controversy? Move records? See if they could get a higher bidder?

After Jive brought the offer to Britney this was her reaction:

"It's a disgusting offer," she told one newspaper. "He should go and have a cold shower and leave me alone. It's outrageous how a man like that can offer something which is totally unacceptable."

Before Britney and Justin broke up there were signs that Britneys carefully created image was beginning to crack under pressure. Once their relationship was over and Justin stated he “hit” that the world seemed to turn on Britney. At that time it seemed like the public took out the trash (Britney) and left her on the side of the road to be taken to the recycling plant so we could consume someone else until we were ready to spit them out.

So much has happened in showbiz since this article was published in 2000 (metoo movement, Taylor Swift, womens rights) but so much more is still left on the table. Men still run the world and women in music are pushed to “bare all” or expect to fizzle out.

My question is this. Did the world find Britney expendable once they found out she wasn’t a virgin?

Didn't she lose her virginity when she was 14? I think I've read that somewhere.

This is the guy Lynne said took Britney's virginity

Lynne never said that. It was a rumour that got so big and everyone believed it without even reading the book. Many people who read the book said Lynne never talked about that at all. I think the only thing she said was she didnt like when Britney was living with Justin bc it went against her morals or whatever.

Funny thing is, this is what Reg said in 99 when they werent a couple anymore, he denied sleeping with her

Some time ago I found out that when Britney was already doing promo with Nsync in late 1998, she was still with Reg. The same day of that pic of Britney and Justin playing with Juno, there was a pic Reg could be seen in the background. So Reg met Justin when he was still Britneys bf. And we all know how Britney and Justin tried to hide their relationship in the beginning and for many reasons it seems like they started dating still in late 1998. I wouldnt be surprised that Reg got bitter when he found out Britney was actually dating Justin right after breaking up with him. Who knows if Britney dumped Reg for Justin bc Justins first gf did this for him.

Its really curious how Reg changed his story about sleeping with Britney completely some years after that 1999 interview, where he already didnt have anything to do with her anymore.

Donald Trump no doubt :grimace_judging_judge_squint_ew_gross_red_white_annoyed:

- In a 2007 interview, Trump relayed a strange story about watching a Britney Spears concert a few years earlier. Back then, Trump approved of the pop star's looks ("that was when she was saying she was a virgin . . . and she was so cute"), so much so that he put aside his much-discussed germaphobia. Trump recalled watching her show from the fourth row at his Taj Mahal casino. "She was sweating and looked beautiful and she threw her hat, right? Now normally if a performer throws a hat and it's sweaty and wet and everything, I'd have no interest in it. But I grabbed that sucker," he says. "She was so cute and wholesome and nice, I wasn't even afraid of those germs. Today, if she threw it, I'd say 'get that sucker out of here.' "

The show he was talking about def happened in 2000 :grimace_judging_judge_squint_ew_gross_red_white_annoyed:

Trump looks so odd without his makeup there! Which is probably why he cakes on the foundation and bronzer.

I confirm this, i read the book when it was released. Lynne never published something like this. It was a false article that blew out of proportion and journalists never cared to cross check the information. They also said she took heavy ***** as a teenager already... Very infuriating.

I wonder if she was advised by Jive to say she is a Virgin ? She probably was. But that was not the best decision

I remember watching a video in an interview / press conference where it was said that this was the first time she talked about her virginity and they said she only touched on the subject because her record company told her to say that, this was in 2000, when the album Oops was released.

This.

Jive was going to give her a mature image and utilize her deeper vocals with an adult contemporary sound.

He kept pushing pop on her and it was like he was trying to recreate Tiffany or Debbie Gibson of his youth since he’s so hellbent on portraying her as this clean cut barbie. Larry is always inches away from her at all times.

even if there was no record label behind this "decision" I don't think Britney herself would've revealed it anyway. With a religious background, I don't think a lot of people, especially girls, in this society, were comfortable revealing they weren't virgins anymore before marriage. I actually would think is still the case nowadays, again, when you come from a religious background.

I think it's very complicated, because how do you handle a teenager? How do you portray a teenager, when you want to appeal to teenagers. Virgin or not, most of the people at that age start to have a ***ual awakening. When you're older you may see them as kids, but teenagers feel like they're super grown up, and know more than anyone, and many of them are actually already having relationships and stuff. They don't wanna follow a Jojo dressed up with candies and rainbows, they're looking for the coolest one.

So that makes sense why Britney would scrap the cartoon video treatment for BOMT and suggest something more appealing for the audience she was targeting. However, that represents a challenge for the record label / management team. Of course they wanna keep the image as clean as possible, because they're still dealing with an underage. But how to balance both, when you know the ****, more adult image is what's selling? Aka the midriff, the magazine covers, etc.

I thought some of the reporters asked her and she answered, and then people couldnt stop talking about it from then on.

The way people treated Britney with regards to her virginity, and love life in general, would not be tolerated today. It was aggressive and boarding on ***ual harassment.

MTE. She dealt with so much **** since she was 17 years old, people were disgusting talking about her *** life, her body and whatnot. I feel like until today shes the exception to the rule. I understand if people dont want to completely trash her father since Britney cant talk about her situation, but its the silence that bothers me. Many people and so called feminists dont even bother to read about FreeBritney movement or at least say smt like Miley did, that she should have the freedom to live her life as she pleases. I know one big feminist page that talked about FreeBritney and thats it, the rest dont even mention. Hypocritical much.

It's brought up and talked about for a sec. The look on her face though :umomg_britney_shocked_wow_omg_surprised_eyes_wide: she looks disgusted and p!ssed off at the same time. I wish I could buy that it's a rumor but I feel there is some truth to it. Even if it is a rumor it's disgusting how obsessed people were about it back then. I just remember being 11/12 yrs old and not knowing much about *** and Britney's v-card would always come up and being like ew can we just dance to her music wtf? :ehidk_britney_um_eek:

She looked utterly disgusted and uncomfortable rightfully so. I cant believe people were asking her about her ***ual life and men offering her money to sleep with her. That was so ****ed up in so many levels. I feel for her for having to deal with so much **** since she was like 17 years old. I mean grown up men like Eminem talking about having *** with a teenager or having Donald Trump an old man lusting for her. Even Kevin Richardson, Mark Hoppus were talking about her body and being **** even tho she was still a teenager. I know she felt weird about all this bc she talks in some interviews about grown *** dudes stalking and being all over her. I just imagine how harassed Britney was by strangers and famous men. I was also a kid at the time and I felt very weird reading about her virginity on "political" magazines. I didnt understand very well but I felt very uncomfortable. After I became an adult myself, I really understood how the whole thing was completely innapropriate. I hope someday media and these people are really exposed about that.
