Mr Cleaver was invited to deliver the prayer opening up the 117th Congress on Sunday, when he decided to introduce a gesture towards gender neutrality.

“We ask it in the name of the monotheistic God… God known by many names and by many different faiths. Amen, and awoman,”

unfortunately for him, Amen (used in Jewish, Christian and Islamic worship, as a concluding word or as a response to a prayer) It’s not a gendered word

Common English translations of the word amen include "verily", "truly", and "so be it".
