80s japanese pop is trending on tiktok so i decided to make this thread mostly for myself (procrastination <3 )

in chronological order:

yamaguchi momoe - sayonara no mukougawa (the other side of goodbye) 1980

amin - matsuwa (i'll wait) 1982

 

yellow magic orchestra - kimi ni mune kyun (my chest tightens for you) 1983

gou hiromi - 2 oku 4 sen man no hitomi (two hundred and ten million beauty) 1984

onyanko club - sera fuku wo nugasanaide (dont take my school uniform off) 1985

matsuda seiko - tenshi no winku (angel's wink) 1985

saito yuki - sotsugyo (graduation) 1985

 

koizumi kyoko - yoake no mew (daybreak mew) 1986

moritaka chisato - 17 sai (17 years old) 1989

princess princess - m (m, duh) 1989

I have varied musical tastes. From Chillwave to Classical music to Italco disco, and much much more. I even like some occasional early 80’s Estonian pop 😂

I never said I only loved Blackout (or that genre/style). I love music in general. And, I appreciate and recognise the album’s artistic merit, critical acclaim, and importance in pop.

same guy that does akb48... i used to be so invested in idols (not akb tho) when i was in elementary school but when i got older i realized how creepy it was, back then i just thought it was cool that girls my age are doing performing and stuff

Probably since it has that euphoric vibe, but its more like a 70s-influenced disco-funk song

I only got into J pop because of all the comparisons between Ayumi Hamaski and Britney. I read in the early 2000s that she is the Japanese version of Britney so that made me a fan. I still play her music once in a while.

 

80s j pop sounds nice too.
