On one hand, She probably shouldn't have said an album was coming, but on the other, she really doesn't owe anyone anything and is perfectly free to work at her own pace on something.

Whether she was joking or not, I don't think she'll be worried about going hungry if she ever releases a new album and y'all decide to boycott it.

She should not forget that it was music that brought her to these make up, skincare, clothes deals and contracts. Relevance = sales. She may not need to tour, but music can be her advertising, to keep her presence.

im sorry, i like Rihanna but ive got no sympathy for her. Like i said, shes lucky her fans still give a s**t tbh. if she doesnt wanna do music anymore, tell your fans! Since that's the case I do agree she should come clean and state once and for all if she plans on realeasing it or not. 
But I don't know, if the artist I liked promised something and didn't deliver, I wouldn't be up their face in social media asking for it like some beggar to be talked back like that (I understand it's not the first time she does it)... The fact that 2 years later she's elusive about it is kind of selfexplanatory: she's not releasing it.

At the end of the day I am not really mad at anyone not trying to release an album in the middle of a pandemic. How would you promote? You can't even tour. She won't make any money. People can't dance to her new music at the clubs.

I agree with Rihanna there are more important things to be worrying about right now.

Anyway, it was kind of rude the way she phrased it. That's how these "stars" start losing their public appeal. When she finally drops new music, no one would actually be interested in it (or her, for the matter).

She teased the new album multiple times herself. She's literally making her own fans thirsty without providing the good.

I don't support her in any way as an artist cause I think this is unprofessional behavior and puts artists in a bad light. Her attitude is the worst.

well on twitter. a fan tweeted her towards the end of 2018 asking when her album was coming out and she just tweeted '2019'. So she could've done it just spur of the moment without really thinking but to me thats still a 'confirmation' to her fans

I love her music but she seems so full of herself lately. The makeup business has got into her head. 
 

Pretty positive that the album will come out this year but I doubt it will be a huge success since she ran out of gimmicks (Sia, Calvin Harris, Drake). She needs to find another wave to ride on. It won’t do well much like many of her contemporaries. I mean who’s not flopping apart from Adele, TS, Ariana and Billie Eilish?
 

Rihanna will remain unbothered though due to her makeup line making quadruple the money she made from her music.
