Question for cis people

Recommended Posts

I wouldn't call it social experiment but I have an interestning question to ask that I was questioning myself as there was few hot news topics including subjects of they/them and other pronouns which makes a lot of confusion.

For all CIS people... imagine if someome was talking about you as they/them would you be okay with it?

Please try to be respectful.

Cisgender, het female.  I would have zero problem with someone using they/them pronouns to refer to me.  My assumption would be that that person was trying to be respectful and inclusive.  I also think that being in a position where I would have to communicate my pronoun preference is good - it cedes just a tiny amount of my privilege and makes it a little bit easier for trans people.

Of course, I live in an incredibly liberal city where these things are taken extremely seriously.  Not sure how applicable this would be to the general public.

I am cis male for sure, and I definitely prefer being a he/him. But if someone insisted on calling me they/them, I would just laugh it off because I find it dumb anyway. For example, I personally find they/them pronoun unneccessary and like a cry for attention, but if a person tells me they wish to be called "them" I will by all means call them using those pronouns. My personal opinion I keep to myself, especially because calling someone they doesn't harm me in any way. :sipney_britney_starbucks_straw_sipping_drinking_spill:
