Ok maybe I got carried away with my pointed tone, but I got triggered when I read that if she were an artist, that she would struggle understanding how Britney Spears, the undisputed princess of pop -is more popular than BLACKPINK? I mean, come on now. What I struggle understanding is how some people in 2020 nonetheless, still can not understand why Britney Spears is a legend. It's not rocket science. I mean, the music alone speaks for itself. BLACKPINK hasn't created a pop masterpiece as good as Britney's not-best 8/10 singles. They haven't even made pop classics that can be put alongside their YG seniors 2NE1 and BIGBANG. Aside from many other factors as to why I think that comparison is so wrong but l'm not in the mood to discuss.

I've always said it, and it's not just something about Meghan, but in general. Talented people exists everywhere, just look at all those competition tv shows like The Voice or whatever. But you have to have something else, that is harder to measure, it's not tangible or quantifiable. Literally, the X factor.

And I'm not gonna say this about you, but just anyone in general: if someone fails to see why a person like Britney Spears made it big in the music industry, they really have a very short vision, or their judgement is blocked by something else, frustration, jealousy, or simply there's a lack of perception for this "x factor" and they're focusing on other, irrelevant stuff, and that's why their math doesn't add up when they think about Britney's success.

 

And something else I also always say, effort doesn't always equal to success. Sadly, that's not the way life works, or at least not the entertainment business. You can have great singing capabilities, or writing skills, and you can train and rehearse and study and compete, but if you don't have it, you just don't have it. And people notices that. That's another factor, the time and the audience they're targeting. Maybe a particular artist that had no luck in their career would have had more luck have they come out a decade earlier, or a decade later, or if they released their music for a particular country or region different than the ones they're trying. Heck, if Britney came out today and did everything the same as she did at the beginning of her career, probably wouldn't even be able to release a second album, not because she lacks talent or work ethic, but because it's a different audience, there's other choices in the music scene than the ones that were when she came out.

 

Someone that has all the elements in favor, can have all the success in the world without moving a finger, and "not having worked hard for it" won't make their success less worthy.

 

Now, I would justify the frustration if she had come out at the same time as Britney, she ACTUALLY danced and performed at the same level as Britney, she had an image and attitude as good as Britney, and her songs were also as good as hers, and still was a flop, well that really would be a good reason to feel pissed.

I wish @Jordan Miller would do a video explaining why we shouldn't diss artist's who don't wrote a majority of their singles. Britney is a songwriter but most of her Singles aren't and that's perhaps due to the more commercial appeal. When she writes it's not mainstream appeal with the exception of Everytime

True, Meghan and Katy seems to have a very similar personality. Katy shaded some celebrities besides Brit, I don't follow Meghan but her thing with Britney is weird.

Im just sick of people trying to discredit everything Britney does bc they seem to be jealous of her. When Britney sang live in the beginning of her career, people also were *****ing about bc she didnt sound like Whitney while dancing. She could never win. Celebs that shade others all the time for no reason, that tell more about themselves than anything. It seems like they are pressed insecure people that will throw a shade here and there at an easy target like Britney who cant even defend herself, so they can feel better about their pathetic selves and careers.

Mad respect for people like Ariana who is the it girl rn, has a good voice but never felt the need to shade Britney, she even praised Britney in the past and differently from Meghan, she didnt have to shade Britney too while pretending shes a stan. Or even Taylor Swift who writes all her songs, sings live a lot, plays instruments and is so successful, and never shaded Britney as well. Also Billie Eilish who is a teenager with famous older fans like Dave Grohl and Paul McCartney, someone who does a completely different music from Britney, but only has nice things to say about her.

Thats why they are winning and Meghan continues with her only one hit that no one remembers anymore.

Even though was greatly respected artistically, Michael Jackson was easily more humiliated than Britney.  So Britney is definitely not alone.

It's funny this is a big topic, when the darling of the music industry/media Beyonce has not even written one of her singles but people keep using Britney as an example as this and even more ironically, Britney is a better songwriter than Beyonce.

I never liked Megan (and music is mediocre at best) but I wasn’t expecting this level of disrespect. I always thought she was a stan. Remember when she tried to rip off the overprotected video? 

it’s hard enough for women in the industry and she should know better than to tear another female artist down, let alone a legend who has faced a lot adversity.
