This Day in Pop: 'Platinum Christmas' holiday album is released in 2000 (November 14)

On November 14, 2000, Jive Records released the holiday album Platinum Christmas. It contained 16 songs by different artists such as Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, *NSync and Monica among others. The album peaked at #32 on the US Billboard 200.

Britney's track, My Only Wish (This Year) opens the album and it has become the most popular song out of the record. It's been included in several Christmas albums over the years and in 2020 it was re-released as a vinyl and digital single with a new cover. On Spotify, is Britney's sixth most streamed song.

The international version replaces Donell Jones' song by S Club 7's Perfect Christmas and scrambles the order of t he songs a bit:

I love Christmas music. 
Sometimes I have fantasies and I think that put it having been a Britney Christmas album, with all the feat album.
Imagine an SNL-style Christmas special on MTV ...  that would have been the best-selling Christmas album of all time.

I remember buying this CD in 2000 lol I was obsessed. Still a favorite Christmas album out of nostalgia! I never realized they made two more.
