Before she went the dance route to become the mold of what music critics and chart analysts and MTV call the female pop standard that all careers are made from. 

 

Madonna was part of the New York punk scene, even performing with her Band Emmy at CBGB club, Though Madonna wanted to Name that Band Madonna, Her ex Stephen Bray said Absoulutely not. 

 

She agreed, She named the Band Emmy after his nickname for Her, When they dated. In which, he realized there really is no hope for her ego to step aside is there. 

 

The band liked that name, he kept it from the others, that low key she made sure the band was named after her, real name or pet name.
