Pandemic Life Update: What is it like where you live?

Recommended Posts

I live in the great state of Alabama. (Please detect the sarcasm)

Anyways...Restaurants are open. I work at one that stays pretty busy. I’ve made more money now than before and we’re only allowing 50% capacity. It’s crazy. People have to wear masks out in public. But I feel like there are far more stubborn Trump loving hicks that forget that they have to wear masks, and then get angry when they get told they have to wear them...as if the mask mandate/order hasn’t been in affect since effing May.

People are still acting above the whole thing. Large gatherings. Going out to bars. Not wearing masks, etc and then they wonder why the state is seeing such high numbers.

People down here are dumb.

I live in arizona. Other than no concerts or big events it feels normal. Restaurants are supposed to be at 50% occupancy but most fill up even the one I work at, especially weekends.  Most people wear masks in stores etc. But scottsdale (wear I work) got rid of the mask mandate so alot of people come in without one on, so that's fun.  I've gone to the movies and out to eat multiple times. I don't feel too nervous about it honestly. I'm just more worried about how long things will be on hold for. How long can the music industry be on hold for with no touring (a huge way to make $ for artists). I just hope concerts don't die like they say movie theaters will.

I live in Germany, very industrial city so Covid has not affected it that much. We were never under lockdown because the goverment seems to care more about the economy than anything else. I got a free test at the airport when i came back from holidays. They sent me a list of rules and a phone number to call in case i am sick. That is all.

But we had a countrywide lockdown in March/April.:umsaywhat_adele_hmm_umm_thinking_confused_unsure: And we have very strict rules and when you don´t follow them you have to pay a lot of money when they catch you. This can go up to thousands of Euros. Now they even say you should denigrate your neighbors. Like they did in the German Democratic Republik. Seems like they reactivate the Stasi again(secret police). And you can get freed from wearing a mask when because of healthy reason but no one cares even when you have an attestation from your doctor. . And we never had that much public toilets but now they are nearly everywhere closed. In some restaurants, they don´t let allow the to guest use it.

I live in Florida and it’s not going so great. I live in Palm Beach County where they still have a mask mandate but I drove to Daytona Beach this weekend and they didn’t enforce social distancing or masks anywhere. Our governor is incredibly reckless and unintelligent so his handling of the pandemic has been terrible. I honestly want all this to just be over already 😩

Because of all these rules, since march, I just do the necessary stuff like bringing out the trash, going to the grocery store, and do the most important appointments. Since then, I was never in a café, restaurant, cinema, pool, concert, hairdresser.

Really? In which Bundesland do you live? I live in NRW we didn't have lockdowns like in Italy/Spain/France where people could only go outside to do grocery shopping. I always was able to go to the office if i needed it and the parks were full of people. And now i see many people without a mask when going outside, only to enter inside restaurants/supermarkets. The city recommends it but it is not mandatory yet. I guess it is that different depending where you live? :/

I don't know in which Germany the person who wrote above lives, we had no lockdown.  Because we had a lockdown and we are constantly threatened with another.

I live in NRW. Only some areas are now restricted like Cologne. It was not a real lockdown like in France or Spain. Parks were always full, people didn't care, Cologne and Dusseldorf were full of people, the river shore of the Rhein was crowded all summer it was insane.

It was not so bad like in Italy for example, we were allowed to go out but nearly everything was closed. Just grocery stores, drugstores, pharmacy, home improvement stores, gas stations were open. And later in the lockdown, we could go to a restaurant to take our meal home.

Now you have to wear a mask even outside. The police controls it.(when you go to a market and pedestrian precinct)

What we had here was not a real lockdown, there was freedom of movement for people. You could still take your car and go around the country.

What? It was!

tourism was forbidden in Mecklenburg-Western-Pomerania even for germans + they tried to get rid of people (only for people with first residence there), in Hamburg you needed a license for work to drive any further.

But yeah, we had 16 different things going on

I live in the UK and the government here have handled this so badly. Some areas of England/Scotland/Wales have gone back into some sort of 'lockdown' with restrictions, with Liverpool under the most restrictions. I live in London and we haven't been subjected to anything like that surprisingly. We have a curfew of 10pm on restaurants/pubs/bars and the 'rule of six' to meeting people outside of your family (or whoever you live with).

But I just don't see how these lockdowns/rules are going to work. Coronavirus is going to be around for a while and I think we need to learn how to live with it. We can't keep going into lockdown every time cases rise. Because then they'll go down again, then restrictions are lifted and cases go up again. We can't live in a rinse and repeat situation. The economy has been ruined and many people have lost their jobs, also think of people who have mental health issues...

It could all be about to go south again, but in my region of Australia there has been no recorded case of coronavirus for over 90 days. But Sydney isn’t too far from here and has a bunch of new warnings.

Masks are still strongly recommended, although only about 10% of people wear them and most large format retail and shopping centres have sanitation stations at every entry.

Some states have opened up to others but it’s all a bit of a mess. Still no international travel although they are looking at a small travel bubble for the pacific rim.

Ive still been social distancing, avoiding being out in crowds and trying to do groceries only when necessary (I’m immunosuppressed, don’t @ me)

But ****, I miss life. I hope a vaccine comes through soon so we can begin to regain some normalcy. I hope all of you in badly affected regions are doing your best to stay safe. Positive vibes for all :sendinglove_kissing_heart_love_blowing:
