On September 12, 2000, Christina Aguilera released her second studio album Mi Reflejo. The album is completely sung in Spanish and it includes five Spanish-language versions of tracks from her previous album, in addition to four original compositions and two cover songs, including a collaboration with Luis Fonsi. The tracks were adapted and composed by Rudy Pérez who also produced the album.

In the United States, Mi Reflejo peaked at number-one on the Billboard Top Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums charts, and it also peaked at #27 on the BB200. The album was the best-selling Latin pop album of 2000 and was certified 6× Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It has sold 2.2 million copies worldwide.

Upon its release, Mi Reflejo received generally mixed reviews from music critics, who noted musical similarities to Christina Aguilera. The album led to Aguilera receiving the Latin Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Album and two Billboard Latin Music Awards.

i hate how she ignored the best song on the album and never performed it

Gernerally that whole album was a waste. Should have put out another pop album (with all new songs) to solidify her fanbase before Stripped.

and what I hate is that she actually solidified a fanbase in Latin America, only to never release a follow-up album. Heck, she didn't even need to release a full album in Spanish, but just releasing one Spanish song per album, whether a translated song from her singles, or a specific song for the Latin market every now and then would've been enough.

She preferred to stay under the shadow of Britney in the American market, and other artists that came later, when she could've become the queen of Latin pop.

It's not like the album was bad, but I think that was the moment when she lost the competition between her and Britney

Would be good to release such album as an 5th or 8th album or something, but not at the moment when she was trying to to strengthen her position in the business

She could have just released a Spanish EP with the new songs tbh. The Christmas album was also a waste of time.

It was a waste of time. Its not even a proper album, most of the songs were the singles from her first album.. I mean what was the point? It should have been:

1999 - Self Titled Album

2000 - Another Pop Album

2001 - Lady Marmalade, Spanish EP

2002 - Stripped

2004 - Pop Rock album

2006 - Back to Basics

2008 - Bionic

I wish she had released this concurrently with her self-titled album and her Christmas album after a follow-up. Crazy that by Stripped she had released 4 albums to Britney’s 3, but we all consider Stripped her second album. I think it brought her momentary success, but really hindered the potential she had. She could’ve gotten away with another teen pop album between self-titled and Stripped. I do think Stripped is her best album and B2B is also an incredible album. Sad that it didn’t last long

The album cover is a completely mess when there were nice pictures in that photoshoot, like the cover for the special edition of the first album. Anyway, “Mi Reflehou” was a good effort from Christina and a smart move from Aguilera’s team to reach more fame and fans in Latin America and mediterranean countries like Spain, Portugal and Italy. We never got the follow up it deserves...

Someone should photoshop that cover.
