because was completely unexpected from her and was absolutely an unique video. Plus the incredible success on social media  years before tik tok

God the day has come where I have to defend Beyoncé, the one I think is the most overrated singer of our generation. But hey, unlike 99% of her other works, Single Ladies IS iconic, memorable, has an iconic and recognizable choreography, was a true smash hit and was one of the most important songs that year. It's exactly the fact that it is all of that using minimalism and simplicity that made the video much more deserving of anything Taylor Swift (the most overrated after Beyoncé herself) released that year.
