Gaga deserved the award but its weird how she was awarded first when there are older artists out there who deserved to be awarded first.

MJ, Madge, Mariah, Whitney, Janet, Britney, Christina, Eminem, Shakira, Beyonce, Rihanna, and other older artists deserved to be awarded first.

Right. Let's be logical here and consider the Tricon Award as a spiritual successor to the MJ Video Vanguard Award (the one initiated in 2011). We can subsequently agree then that recipients of that award - Missy Elliott, Jennifer Lopez, P!nk, Rihanna, Kanye West, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears - all don't need this award. That's not to say these people don't deserve awards by any means, especially Brit. But they don't need one in the foreseeable as they've already received the equivalent of the Tricon Award and have already gained this prize of the highest honour.

Candidates who I would deem deserving:

- Madonna

- Mariah Carey

- Janet Jackson

- Elton John (I don't like him but he is a legend)

- Eminem (Again, not a fan but it makes sense)

- Taylor Swift

I don't think there's any point to give it to dead people like Michael Jackson or Whitney Houston. Where would the award go? What purpose would it have? It'd be a waste of metal.
