Mariah Carey reflects on "extremely uncomfortable" moment with Ellen DeGeneres

Mariah Carey recalls an “extremely uncomfortable” moment with Ellen DeGeneres in in 2008 in which she felt pressured to reveal she had a pregnancy that she later miscarried.

In their interview together, Ellen asked Mariah to confirm or deny tabloid rumor that she was expecting a baby with then-husband Nick Cannon.

Carey avoided the subject. To try and get info out of her, DeGeneres offered Carey a glass of champagne to “toast not being pregnant”.

Ellen noticed Mariah fake sipped the champagne from her glass, promoting Ellen to shout: “You are pregnant!”

“I was extremely uncomfortable with that moment is all I can say,” Carey recalls in a new interview with Vulture. “And I really have had a hard time grappling with the aftermath.”

She continued: “I wasn’t ready to tell anyone because I had had a miscarriage. I don’t want to throw anyone that’s already being thrown under any proverbial bus, but I didn’t enjoy that moment.”

Mariah added she wished “empathy” had “been implemented” in the moment, adding: “But what am I supposed to do? It’s like, ‘What are you going to do?’”

In the last part of the video you can see how Ellen was disrepectful,  pushed her to do a lot of things, screamed at her and basically treated her like she was 5 years old .

I know she was trying to be funny, but you do not need to be mean for that .

As someone once pointed out, Britney is one of the celebrities Ellen actually likes and doesn’t embarrass. Ellen would never embarrass Britney like she did to Jessica Simpson, I know Ellen can be messy but not to the ones she likes, and she defo likes Britney.

As a guy I know you’re not supposed to ask about a pregnancy even if the mother is showing just because you never know. You always wait for the mother to announce.

This is such a hard one for me..... You want to give Ellen the benefit of the doubt, and it was a cute, funny moment back in the day.... BUT, now that I  look at this clip again with more mature eyes, this was super cringeworthy. 

Not only was it incredibly immature, but it was downright disrespectful to put an expecting Mother (who hasn't told people publicly) on the spot like that. You'd like to think that any time someone is interviewed that the questions have been discussed ahead of time, but if this was truly on the spot, then it's wildly disrespectful.

She's got so many interviews that are so hard to watch.
