News Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" still breaking records after 10 years of release

Katy Perry's sophomore album, Teenage Dream, has set another record breaking achievements after 10 years of it's release.

Her label, Capitol Records, just recently updated the certifications of the said era in preparation of the album's anniversary this August 24th, four days before the release of her fifth record, Smile.

Here are the details:

• Teenage Dream (album) - 8x Platinum
• Teenage Dream (single) - 8x Platinum
• Firework - 12x Diamond

With these, Katy Perry has now surpassed Michael Jackson's record of the highest certified music package (album + singles) with staggering 64.5 million units sold. Notably that these two artists have the same feat of having five No.1 singles in one album (doing so with Teenage Dream and Bad).

And with Firework's hitting a new mark, it also became the most consumed single for a female lead, alongside with another achievement of being the only artist to have 7 songs to sold more than 8 million units in RIAA history.

Wow 10 years already   it feels like just yesterday I was smelling that delicious cotton candy scented album at a record store that I never did buy  I did however buy the Complete Confection Edition.

My fave songs from that album are E.T. forever a fave, Last Friday Night, Wide Awake, Part Of Me and the song that should have been a single Hummingbird Heartbeat.

Never been a fan of the sweet candy, bubble gum type of album vision, no matter the artist.

On the other hand, E.T. remains a classic. Teen Dream isn't bad either.

  I remember buying this album and unwrapping the plastic then smelling cotton candy. I was like  what is smelling like that in my car and then smelled the CD package 
We can all say what we want about Katy now but Teenage Dream is one of the best pop albums. She could really live off the success of this album
