Welcome to...THE CIRCUS

Since we had our own Circus earlier today, I was reminded of this clip of the Circus Tour. Seemingly simpler times (Maybe for the fanbase, probably not for Britney herself.) But what do you all think of the Circus opening? I'm a bit conflicted. On the one hand I think all of the footage filmed for this tour was epic and the hype was amazing being there in the crowd on the third night. This, the sweet dreams interlude, etc were incredible. On the other hand, do we think Britney actually approved for Perez Hilton to profit off of her? Or do you think this is solely on her team?

Pigrez eased his way there, and it doesn't seem fair to me that someone who spewed so much toxicity profited from his bad behavior. That said, I think its epic when Britney comes out and shoots him with a crossbow at the end. I find myself relating to her all the time recently :mcry:.

I have to say that for this reason alone I am glad the Circus Tour has not been released on DVD. He does not deserve another cent from her hard-earned cash. Its sickening to me how much people who talk **** about her, control her, manipulate her profit from her. I don't think I've seen a case at all in history of as many people in the world profiting from someone's pain and misery. I wonder what Britney's career would look like if she was allowed the flexibility/100% control like most pop girls are allowed in their careers nowadays from Blackout onwards.

Meanwhile, I've been thinking about going as Ringleader Britney (gender swapped of course) for Halloween. Do any of you know where I could get a replica of the jacket?

Thank you. xoxo

It's extremely sad. I've always love/ hated when people compared Britney to Marilyn Monroe. At first it was for her similar beauty and star power. Now even I, see how toxic the conservatorship has been on her and how people have preyed on her much like sweet Marilyn. Both women have had enough of the fame and just wanted love and kids.

Tbh this thread is going to veer severely off-topic but lately (I'm a bit new age so feel free to roll your eyes.) I've been convinced that Britney might be the reincarnation of Marilyn Monroe. I was thinking about making a thread on it. But they are related by blood. Marilyn (allegedly) killed herself and therefore it is possible she had to repeat the same lessons this life as Britney to overcome said lessons. If its not a reincarnation there definitely is some ancestral karma or whatever going on.

I think its entirely possible.

I never understood why they chose Perez to open her show. I always skip the intro because it makes me sick. I mean at least if he was just an idiot it would be somewhat fine and bearable, but on top of that he is so problematic and to have him forever associated with her and the Circus Tour... Who greenlighted a mess like this? Damn let's get the most nauseating human in the entertainment business on the show, but God forbid putting her in a cage on her music video :wonka:

I have to say I agree 100%. It almost would have been better imo if they found a look a like or had someone play him as a character if they had to use that concept at all. Larry Rudolph and his cheap marketing skills strike again.

The way I already knew what you were referring to...

This entrance will always be iconic

I love the entrance song, It’s very church/iconic. Madonna does this all the time and it’s always iconic. I think Britney only did it on this date or maybe a few more but most dates there was no sound for her entrance.

I still to this day don’t understand why they hired Perez Hilton for the job. He was the same leech who made merch of  wanting Britney to die in 2007, and basically enhanced the fire of what the media backlash was in 2007. Hate him.

Most iconic legendary entrance of her career. Her beauty is effing insane here. Also, um, why does this performance have no dancing. I know we been knew, and I Stan the circus tour but who approved this boring *** routine for the opening number ? Lol

i think it was a way of showing her being strong now and "killing" the people that talked **** about her... she shoots him in the balls - reference for privacy.

But they could've gone with a lookalike instead of the actual person, it was a pretty bad idea to go with the real one. Not fair to her at all, at least they didn't meet for the shootings

Agreed. It was sweet of Britney to allow Pigrez out of his pen to shoot him with arrows at least. We Stan a giving queen.

I always speculated that Team B hired Perez with a PR deal that he would lay off negative stories about her. However, they severely underestimated his popularity because no one was checking for him then, so it was pointless. If this was a tour in 2007 it *may* have been a worthwhile move. But 2009? :shadelaugh:
