SHE has enjoyed global success with songs such as Slave 4 U, Toxic and Piece Of Me – and now some of Britney Spears’s fans think her hits are an SOS message to the world.

The superstar may have amassed a £45million fortune, but for 12 years she has not been allowed to spend her cash, drive a car or even leave home alone without permission.

Britney Spears' fans claim the star is sending them coded messages in an attempt to escape her 'conservatorship'

Britney has achieved global success and amassed a £45million fortune, but she has little control over her life

For since 2008 Britney has been subject to a legal “conservatorship” — making her dad Jamie her legal guardian, with direct control over her financial affairs and daily life.

But the arrangement — brought in to protect her mental health after her infamous 2007 breakdown — has left many of her fans believing that the 38-year-old star deserves to go “free”.

More than 220,000 have joined the #FreeBritney movement, claiming their idol is sending them hidden messages on social media, letting them know she is in trouble.

Beneath one of Britney’s TikTok videos this month, users urged her to “wear yellow” and “do a spin” if she needed help.

In the next video Britney posted, to both Instagram and TikTok, she spins into the frame wearing a yellow top and holding a bouquet, a “surprise” from her florist.

She then walks back and forth across the frame for the duration of the video.

Another fan also asked her to post doves if she was in trouble.

Days later, Britney posted a painting by Austrian artist Hans Zatzka that included doves.

The star was also committed to a hospital involuntary psychiatric unit

A third TikTok user claimed Britney had spelled out “Help” in a recent Instagram post through specific poses.

As her conservator, 68-year-old Jamie’s tasks include overseeing Britney’s business affairs, costumes, personal and legal matters and family law issues.

He is also in charge of everything from running her cars to fixed custody arrangements for the star’s children.

He also negotiated his daughter’s 2012 stint as a judge on the US X Factor series.

But early on, fans began to question whether the conservatorship was right for Britney, as during the past decade she has been able to release three studio albums and staged international tours and a successful Las Vegas residency.

Fans think her recent Tik Tok posts contain signals that she's in trouble

Many are querying whether a woman deemed incapable of fundamental civil liberties would be capable of performing to thousands of people every night.

In 2009 fan site breatheheavy.com started its “Free Britney” campaign. Its owner, Jordan Miller, said he later received an irate call from Jamie threatening to have it taken down.

The clamour from fans has recently gathered pace on social media.

Instagram account freebritneyla has even organised rallies in support, saying: “For 12 years she has been denied basic human rights under a legal tool reserved for incapacitated individuals that generates millions of dollars in revenue for her team.”

A source close to the family claims Jamie has a strained relationship with grandsons Sean, 14, and Jayden, 13 — Britney’s boys from her marriage to ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Last September Jamie stepped down from some of his duties as conservator, citing personal health reasons, and a judge appointed Britney’s care manager Jodi Montgomery as his temporary replacement.

But according to court documents Jamie was removed as conservator following allegations that he grabbed and shook grandson Sean.

A source revealed: “In the past year tensions between Sean and Jayden have flared with Jamie. They stem from discipline and long-term issues with their dad Kevin.

Another fan asked her to post doves if she was in trouble and Britney later posted this painting to social media

“It is tough for Britney, who thinks her boys could never do any wrong. Kevin has always wanted to make sure his sons are kept away from the dramas surrounding their mother.”

Britney’s most recent financial documents showed that as of 2018 she had a net worth of £45million.

She spent nearly £307,000 on living expenses and £50,000 on household supplies.

She also shelled out £84,000 on her legal and conservator fees.

Her father earned £98,000 that year, said reports at the time.

But now the conservator role seems set for review.

It is up for extension on August 22, and Britney’s determined fans are hoping it could be the point when she is finally “freed”.

Meanwhile, her mum Lynne, who has liked posts with the #FreeBritney tag, has filed paperwork to be more involved in her daughter’s finances.

When the conservatorship was set up 12 years ago there was no debate — Britney was on ***** and in trouble.

In February 2007 the former Mickey Mouse Club child star, who has sold more than 150million albums worldwide, had entered a hairdresser’s in Tarzana, California, and shaved off her hair in front of photographers.

Afterwards she went to a tattoo parlour to get an inking of a woman’s lips on her wrist.

The concern has sparked the #FreeBritney movement, which has now been joined by 220,000 people

The tattoo artist claimed Britney told her: “I don’t want anyone touching my hair. I’m sick of people touching my hair.”

Just days later, Britney — who would drink up to 15 cans of energy drink Red Bull each day — attempted to smash up a paparazzo’s car with an umbrella.

Following an aborted shot at **** rehab, the singer was committed to a hospital involuntary psychiatric unit.

In March 2008, Los Angeles Judge Reva Goetz awarded Jamie conservatorship over his daughter’s life after the court heard how she was “struggling with **** abuse”.

When the order was made, Britney — who is currently in a relationship with 26-year-old personal trainer Sam Asghari — did think of challenging it, according to Adam Streisand, a lawyer who she spoke to at the time.

In 2016 he said: “It was clear to me that she seemed a bit agitated. But my sense was that she did have the capacity to pick a lawyer and that she could make a rational decision.”

But the judge, citing a recent medical evaluation, said the singer was not capable of hiring her own lawyer.

Mr Streisand added that Britney wanted to oppose the conservatorship but was “extremely worried about her kids” and understood the best thing to do to be able to see them was to accept it.

Giving more than a hint of frustration during an MTV interview in 2008, Britney said: “I think it’s too in control. If I wasn’t under the restraints I’m under, I’d feel so liberated.

“There’s no excitement, there’s no passion. Even when you go to jail, you know there’s the time when you’re going to get out. But in this situation it’s never-ending.”

The source added: “It is not the easiest family dynamic, but Kevin is happy that Britney has been doing so well in recent weeks.

“They have enjoyed a good split time with the boys during quarantine.

“But anyone thinking Britney is going to have control of her life needs to think again. The conservatorship is seen by the judge and Jamie as having worked well and saved Britney.

Britney's conservatorship is up for extension on August 22

“Behind closed doors they have aided her medical issues and kept her working in the midst of some testing times, but they insist she cannot function in daily life without needing guidance and restrictions.

“Last year she had a tweak in her meds, which took some time to kick in.

“Like many patients, often medications wear off and need changing up. She does have reasonable freedom within her daily life and as long as she has access to the boys, she remains happy.

“That means that the conservatorship could go on for many years to come, perhaps all her life.

A source says Britney's family 'insist she cannot function in daily life without needing guidance and restrictions'

“And despite all the clamour for freeing Britney and the talk of new lawyers coming to help, not one legal challenge has ever been made against the conservatorship.

“Sure, she gets down days and there are times when Britney would love to let loose and socialise like she used to.

“But when she’s reminded about those dark days when she hit rock bottom, it’s not a temptation that stays with her for long.”

You can see that Jamie Lynn definitely takes after her father while Britney favors her mother here. The three on the left look very "The Hills Have Eyes" while Knee and Lynn are stunning. :yesplease: Lynn should've taken Britney and ran.
