Britney's most experimental album yet

Hi guys,

I honestly am curious to hear what are your thoughts on this subject.

To me, Circus is the most experimental album out of the bunch because it plays with different sounds and melodies. One good example would be Mannequin and Phonography, two tracks that definitely stand out from the rest of her songs to me.

But Blackout did influence some of the music from Circus. So let me know what you think?

I think ITZ is her most experimental :mhm:

ITZ has a lot of different influences that somehow came together nicely (except for brave new girl but we love a filler track)

I definitely agree that ITZ sounds were very fresh compared the 3 previous records

Circus is just a watered down blackout to me

I think blackout influenced some of the sound in Circus but some of the songs on circus are very original to me. Like phonography for example but i know what you mean :mhm:

I think that In The Zone is (I can't believe I used to dislike this almost flawless album :idkha:, it's in my top 3 now)

You have tracks like Everytime, Touch of My Hand, Breathe on Me, Me Against the Music, (I Got That) Boom Boom, Shadow, Early Mornin' and Brave New Girl all on the same album.

Also I have to add that while Glory definitely is a great album, some of it sounds like 2016 pop music (ESPECIALLY Make Me..), so some of it is not aging too well however Slumber Party is aging pretty well and would have probably charted higher than Make Me... did on the Billboard Hot 100 if it was the lead single and given lots of promotion.

Well, that makes it a diverse album, not precisely an experimental one.

Experimental, to me, is when the artist makes something which isnt the trend or something that isn´t on his/her comfort zone.

I would pick:

1. ITZ- a total twist from the bubblegum sound from Britney. Raunchy themes, ****** vocals, bollywood sounds, variety of genres.

2. Blackout - the basis of dubstep

3. Femme Fatale - commercial and mainstream dubstep

even Glory, despite being a trend chaser album, it was kinda groundbreaking and experimental on Britney´s own standars

ITZ is the most experimental in the terms of maturity, and playing with different sounds and genres of music (pop, hip hop, r&b, reggae). Blackout is her most experimental pop album. I do like Circus, but to me, it sounds like a lot of left over Blackout material (because a lot of it is) :tbh:Mannequin and Phonography are two of my favorite songs from the album though :yay:

In the Zone, for me, is her most eclectic album to date... but I’d argue Blackout is her most experimental record so far. It’s also her most cohesive interestingly enough.

Blackout was a completely different sound for Britney at the time that I don’t think anyone saw coming. I think it’s also worth mentioning that her albums typically have a lighter/airy tone.. Blackout is the only record that deviates into darker sounds.

In the zone has always been a part of my trinity along with Circus and Blackout.

I got that boom boom is such a good song and i didnt appreciate it until recently :sobbing:

Yes omg (I Got That) Boom Boom is SO GOOD, I probs would even consider it great if the Ying Yang Twins weren't featured on it

My top 3 Britney albums used to be:

1. Blackout

2. Britney (2001)

3. Glory

In The Zone has now taken Glory's place of 3rd favourite Britney album :haha:

In The Zone is her most experimental album but Circus is her 2nd, Circus for some reasons give me some Madonna vibes, who is the queen of experimental.

I agree with what you said but i can't help but feeling songs like Unusual You and Shattered Glass are very distinctive and out of the box in a way.

I think i am just in love with the mid tempo electronic sound :mhm:

I remember listening to Blackout when i was younger and really thought that blackout stood out from other pop albums with the electronic sound that was somewhat ahead of its time.

Danja and Britney did a great job overall and the album flows really well which shows a lot of details put into it.

I love Mannequin and Phonography so much but Circus also gives us gems like Unusual You, Shattered glass :otears: ..... and Radar:jj:

It has a lot of influences and leftover from Blackout but remains unique in a way to me :mhm:
