Quarantine has given us free time to open the trunk of memories and this has been no exception in the world of entertainment. Emmanuelle Bernard, a photographer and documentary filmmaker born in Nice, France, found a time to open her files and share with all the fans different photos from a session that we all thought was lost: the photoshoot with Britney Spears in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (2001).

Britney-Online.net managed to contact her and briefly discuss the photoshoot. Bernard, who currently resides in Rio de Janeiro, was super pleased by the support of the fans and happy to answer our brief questions, in addition to sharing with us the original photo that was published in Vogue Brazil (2001) and that many fans have not seen to this day.

"I'm having a great time, there's a really good vibe, and watching fans add new effects to my footage is fun," Emmanuelle tells us of her reaction to seeing all the photo reposts on social media and fansites. "There is no big mystery [with this photo shoot]."

So, what really happened with this photoshoot and why didn't we see more? "We went to do a great fashion story for Vogue, with big lights and lots of clothes, but for production reasons or Britney's schedule, we only had a little time to take the photos," Bernard said of the session. "That's why we weren't able to do the whole story the way we wanted to. So, Vogue only released one photo, one page with one short text."

"In such a short time, I had to improvise and grab a small 35mm camera, put on a black and white film and try to make the best of it," Bernard said of her time with Spears. "The location was a small hotel space with a sofa. Our idea was to go to a beautiful place, but we had no other choice, it was the day that Britney was about to go on stage, so I guess she had a tight schedule." Recall that on this date, Britney appeared for the first time in Brazil, presenting her Oops!... I Did It Again Tour at the Rock in Rio festival.

It is impressive what could be captured with a 35mm camera, demonstrating Bernard's talent on set. "It happens a lot that things change in a job and you don't use all of the material. I kept everything in my files and then I got caught in quarantine, so I had time to look through my archives. I found some pearls," Bernard said of how she got to the decision to publish the photos.

So, what was it like working with Britney? "I can say that she was super professional, fast and super talented. A privilege for a photographer."

With these words, we said goodbye to Emmanuelle, thanking her for her time and eager to see the material that she would send us for the note. She is currently working on a book and you can visit her website to see more of her work. https://www.emmanuellebernardfineartphotography.com/

I forgot about these photos, I really like them!!

I can't believe we finally got to see them after 19 years... and the fact that one of them was actually released makes me think of how many local shots might be hidden when she toured on Europe and Asia.
