Trump: We're not closing. We'll never close.

Recommended Posts

We are already in a change shortage, Businesses are forcing people to use Debit/Credit or correct change..

Businesses especially small local business that only rely on cash, are truly gonna suffer, Already lawsuits are happening at local governments cos businesses can't afford the lockdowns or stay at home orders anymore, Hell in AZ all the gyms are suing Doug Ducey for forcing them to close for another 30 days.

We were closed from march till mid May iver here in Bosnia. With curfew and all other Bs. And now we apparently have another wave with more cases than in March. There is no way of stopping this crap

Hes an idiot, we should not be opening anything and are on course to be, if we arent already, the hardest hit country in the world regarding covid deaths. Thing is, I applied for unemployment mid march and still haven't received a penny. Cant get through on the phone and my own senator and assemblyman offices couldn't get a response from EDD. They purposely make it difficult to get your money, and families with no savings living paycheck to paycheck have no choice but to sacrifice themselves to feed their kids. This country is ******* disgusting tbh. Broken on every level.

I don’t like Trump, but he does have a point. :yaknow:
How much longer can we keep the country on lockdown? Unemployment is at 14.7%, the highest it has been since the Great Depression, and 20.7 million people have lost their jobs.

As much as I’d like everyone to stay home, many can’t afford to.

I’m in agreement. We don’t have to close though, to be smart. Restaurants can go curbside, retail stores can do personal pickups/curbside, hell even gyms can stay open by limiting how many people are inside, and hiring staff to clean constantly. It’s not pretty, but it can work. We opened too fast, without proper protocols in a lot of states .... that’s the problem.

I agree With you though.... a lot of people argue for closure again like we’re a socialist country with these social Programs already in place, but we’re NOT. We don’t have the capacity or the programs setup to accommodate that

The fatality numbers don’t support the drastic measures some states are taking.  The more testing is done and the more positives are detected, the more we are realizing that the survival rate is way higher than we thought it was before the tests revealed all the people who had it and were just fine.

Work from home measures I think will be the new way of the future from here on out, but basic functions of society need to return to normal so that small business owners can resume making their living and people can continue their lives.

What I meant to say. We (my country) have been under the  lockdown and  closed from early march till late May,with police hour, borders closed, gyms, hospitality industry etc. Mask/gloves wearing was a must everywhere (punishment/ticket were around 500$). And it hit us hard, both financially and emotionally.

Now we have opened up pretty much everything. And it seems we are having more cases than before. Which means the entire lockdown was useless. And there is no way we can survive a lockdown till vaccine is created (nor can rest of the world including USA)

Does this makes sense to you ?

I understand your point. Truly.
What I meant was that some people can’t afford to stay at home. How are they going to be able buy food and water if they have no more income?

The situation sucks either way :wontcry:

(And I hope we can keep this discussion peaceful ☺️)

It's the problem of the country that these people can't get money / social benefits while Kayne West's Yeezys is receiving a $2-5 million loan.

They seem to be trying to sell this "economy or the health of people" thing, and y'all seem to be buying it.

I'm from the UK, whose government has been a total ****show too when it vomes to handling this, but at least we and loads other European countries are showing that you can ease lockdown and re-open the economy without putting people's lives at risk and causing a major 2nd spike. The US shouldn't have eased lockdown so early, and if they had done now, things wouldn't have been so bad.

I understand that, too. But keeping the country open, putting the American people at further risk... for money? He doesn't care about American citizens. He cares about the mighty dollar. It's tough though yes because people also need income.

Preach!

Just look at the spikes across the country.

Here in AZ they had to shut gyms and bars down again.

The problem is for this to be effective people really need to do their part.

Masks are currently required everywhere here in AZ, but I get at least 3 people daily trying to come in without one.

Also letting restaurants stay open is crazy, especially if they've closed down gyms and bars.

You understand the spikes are from the protests that were going on right ? It’s not from re-opening to early. It’s because everyone got together in the streets. Yea it was for a very needed/good cause. But the pandemic didn’t pause for protesting.
Just look at the rules they put in place in NY, your allowed to protest and not social distance for BLM but you can’t protest the virus (which people were). It makes no sense and that’s why we are seeing spikes everywhere.

Gurl blaming it on the protests is complete bullshyt. Where I live there was minimal protesting, yet we have some of the highest spikes.

It's happening because people are irresponsible and stupid. Things shouldn't re-open if things aren't under control.

Because certain things have irresponsibly remained open (even though there are online options) I ended up with covid because I had to go back to work.

I'm in this much pain just so someone can just leisurely go out and browse? It is complete and utter bullshyt.
