Confessions of a fake fan

Recommended Posts

Had the chance to go to her Piece Of Me tour but turned it down. I've never seen her live (as of yet), but with growing up with her music since day dot, I want at least a hint of Primeney if I'm gonna throw serious dollar that way.

I also think Blackout is extremely overrated by the fandom. Don't get me wrong, there's a few genius moments in there like the now iconic "It's Britney *****", and some of the beats are slick af, but I find a lot of the album lacks the real punch for any decent choreography or the pure atmospheric sensuality, both of which are vitally synonymous with a Britney song... not to mention the near-zero promo and basic videos that came from that era. I just found it underwhelming.

Unpopular opinion (in the spirit of this thread), I think her POM tour was way better than people gave it credit for. I saw it with my husband (who never goes out) in Atlantic City in July 2018 and we had the most amazing time. I couldn't believe how intimate it was (it literally looked like it took place in a banquet hall of a convention center) yet it was the closest to Primeney I've seen and it was incredible getting to see her completely dominating (pun intended) the stage as if she were in a huge arena.

Yes, it was pretty stripped down and didn't have the production value of Femme Fatale or Circus, but she was so energetic, nailed all her dance moves, and looked like she was having the best time. I remember thinking wow, I can't believe this is the same woman who went through hell in 2007-2008 so much that people thought she was going to die, and now 10-11 years later she's back on top looking healthy, mature, and engaged, like she finally found a happy balance between finding joy through performing and then going home and spending time with her kids rather than getting in trouble and being harassed by the paparazzi. And yet, less than 6 months later, everything changed....

Here are some videos from the show (don't know how to embed them as Instagram videos that can be seen in this post):

Omg you went to the show at the Borgata. That was kind of an infamous night (not for good reasons) but I'm glad you were able to enjoy it nonetheless.

Uh.... you just gonna leave me hanging?  :snooptoya_jackson_snooping_looking_magnifying_glass_glasses_search:

Idk. They did a deep dive about it on 2018 episode of the it’s britney ***** podcast and they made it sound so dreadful. Though they mostly shaded the venue and the lack of proper fan representation present at the show. I’m glad to hear from another source that perhaps it wasn’t as bad as they made it sound. It literally sounded like a hokey sad rock bottom casino moment from their description, I was so sad when I heard that episode.

I mean the venue was definitely weird, but I loved it because everybody got to be so much closer to Britney. She was so engaging that it was like watching a stadium-worthy concert with amazing seats. As for the fan representation, I remember it being pretty packed and everybody was out of theirs seats dancing and singing along the whole time. There was no lame opening act and she started pretty much on time and basically went straight through without stopping save for quick costume changes. Definitely not a sad rock bottom casino moment.

Although they were promoting her new perfume HARD and were giving out samples to everybody waiting in line for drinks while we were all just like :walkonby_britney_sunglasses_walking_oh_hi_smile:

I love Britney and Kevin: Chaotic! It’s the happiest she’s ever been

I really enjoyed this series too.

On a similar note, I am not a Kevin Federline hater. She loved him and was very  happy with him for a time and she gave her two humans she loves more than anything. I have probably said that in this thread when it was first started but it bears repeating.

The 'Hold it Against Me' music video makes me really uncomfortable.

I love, no, I adore 'Passenger'.

I always skip 'Oops, I Did it Again' (I don't hate it, I just outgrew it, I guess)

I could've seen Britney live when she gave that free concert in Mexico City, but I decided to go back to my city.
