Madonna in 1994 released Bedtime stories. At this time in her career. She had to rewin the public. 

 

She had that infamous interview with David Letterman where she said the F word a record breaking 15 times on tv. And throwing her panties. 

 

It wasn't a good time to Be Madonna as the public in whole. Thought she went too far with Both Erotica and the infamous book. 

 

While Erotica only had three songs that were very explicit in that department. Most of the album was reflective on romance, Being jilted (Before MDNA infamous bang bang. Madonna covered that ground with Thief of hearts. Though unlike the MDNA target. She wants to break a girls leg. Even asking. Little susie Ho Maker which leg do you want me to break?) To The AIDS epidemic which at that time. The survival rate was really scary. As many who were HIV+ always crossed into AIDS. And as Madonna dubbed it in her fabulous Girlie Show. Aids as the biggest disease of that time. At that time it was. People survived cancer. But never AIDS. It's different now. But then again Thx To the Covid 19 epidemic. It could make a comeback as well. 

 

Madonna also stated. If it wasn't for the Book. Erotica would have probably been a success. But since many couldn't tell the difference between the two. Both flopped. 

 

Bedtime stories was the opposite. With the exception of Survival and Human nature which saw Madonna finger point at the public about their reaction to rhe backlash. 

 

Bedtime stories is really a romantic album at heart.  Even the fan favorite inside of me. Which many misinterpreted as a love making ballad. It's actually about her mother.  Who unliked her Father and stepmom. Madonna truly loved her mom. 

 

It's really the biggest impact on her as a person. 

 

Madonna lost her mother at 5. Many biographers and critics point out. This was sadly the beginning of Madonna being resentful towards man. Even J. Randy and her brother said. She could never love someone as The abandonment of her mother made her heart black. While she loves her kids. Though as most point out. She shouldn't have adopted so much as Rocco felt he didn't matter to her at all. Compared to Lourdes and David and mercy. 

 

Many fans speculate that her anger at Guy Ritchie resulted in An unfortunate anger and resentment towards their own biological son. 

 

So in a nutshell Madonna on romance is complicated as well.
