I think Gaga's dress was more iconic at the time, but I think Britney's dress has more long-term iconicness. Gaga's dress was so talked about during the event and in the weeks after, but I never hear anyone talk about it now. On the flipside, I've seen Britney's dress come up in popular tweets (I don't follow any Britney accounts either) and talked about by people I know almost 20 years later.

Yeah I'm kinda gonna be the only Britney stan and person saying this in this forum but the meat dress was kinda more iconic 

Not to deny the impact the Denim dress has, even Katy Perry, who's known to hate Britney recreated that dress

So, as iconic as they both were.  I have to say that Gaga’s meat dress was more iconic in the moment.  Where as Britney’s denim dress was more iconic longevity wise.

Gaga's was more iconic, but credits to Britney as well for starting the trend.

The denim dress is also a widely known Couples Costume and much easier to recreate as well

Depends. In terms of influence, Britneys, however Gagas had a message behind it and was worn in protest. So because of that, i'd have to say Gagas.
