dua lipa Dua Lipa misses #1 in the UK

Dua Lipa had her fingers crossed she's grab the #1 spot in the UK, however 5SOS will take that title. 

Had everything gone according to her plan, she might've had more success on the charts in both the UK and the US.

It's projected to open at #5 in the states.

Maybe she'll have better luck with the deluxe version

"Future Nostalgia" is still doing better than her first album did (especially in the US). Also, she literally has 3 songs in the UK top 10 right now. She's doing fine.

In the UK @JordanMiller  the streaming rules are strict. You can only have 10 steams per IP. Whether phone or any internet connected media. This was due to Ed Sheeran controversially taking the entire top 40 with his last album. Thus. Sales are more of a driving force. We hoped this would happen in the US. Billboard said that's not fair. So what if a person has a song or album on repeat. The consumer has every right. The OCC (UK charts) is really overreacting.

I never knew this...it's kinda of unfair. So if you live with 4 persons at 1 home, they all will have only 2.5 streams that count?

Only 500 copies separate the #1 album and Dua Lipa..5SOS had sold 12,000 cassettes (4 colors) a special limited edition box set including the deluxe CD, a hat, patches, photo prints and posters. Plus 5SOS sold an exclusive version with an exclusive bonus track on their website that all donations from the plus1 album goes to their charity they created to fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

 

So they offered more versions of Calm and the girls came thru. 

 

But 500 copies was the difference.

 

They also are #1 on the UK cassette albums chart, #1 digital albums chart, #1 on vinyl albums chart. #2 on streaming chart. Dua is #1 on streaming. 

 

The sales helped them big time

Dua should have had a deluxe edition with a different cover, so die-hard fans would have bought both editions.
