We could not bring him to the hospital. We had to wait for doctors to come and help it at home. Hospitals are full, so he couldn't be admitted. So we just have to hope he doesn't catch the virus while he's at home. Understad what we're living, now? Thank you for your perspective. I’m glad your dad is ok. I know it’s not much, but I’m wishing the best for you, your family, and your country. Stay safe. Link to comment

They can overcome that problem very soon with such low number of cases which is good . Link to comment

Unless they permanently close all borders, they will keep on getting cases and will keep on closing schools everytime they get a few. The virus cannot be contained anymore. Here, in the UK, they just allow it to spread so we can hopefully get herd immunity. How will other countries cope though? Close everything every time there is a case because someone with the virus from the UK or whatever travels there? This is not sustainable... Link to comment
Exhale+ The Greatest Show Posted March 15, 2020 Exhale+ Share Posted March 15, 2020 Its not about not getting any more cases its about spreading out the infection so the healthcare system can cope with it. I just got home from Madrid and now have a dry cough and a sore throat. Im young and healthy so thats fine but If I have Covid and go to work (im a flight attendant) that could be a catastrophy so I am now in self quaranine. They estimate that about 70% of the population will get it and most of them will be fine but a lot of them wont be and they will need urgent medical care. If everyone gets it at once, doctors will have to make decisions like in Italy on who gets to have life saving treatment and who is left to die because they just do not have the capacity to treat everyone. Those people could be your parents, grandparents, neighbors and so on. the ignorance in this thread is astounding. Its not about not spreading a cough. Its about making sure not everyone gets the same illness (that is deadly to many) at the same time. Also keep in mind this is also still the regular flu season. Link to comment
Ohmymy
Hi all, I'm a doctor in Chicago and I'm happy to see when people are talking about the issue. Information is critical and I would love to help answer so many questions, but as you can imagine, we are so busy it's hard to even come online. It's hard to write a post with all the information I wish I could provide you guys. Most of it you can find online at the CDC or if you do some thorough research using the appropriate resources. For now, I wanted to ask you to refrain from spreading hate or negative stuff about each other. We are all human and things that make no sense to us can be very scary and not everyone reacts the same or can cope as well as others. For example, we have a lot of patients with mental illness who will find it increasingly challenging to be isolated for 2 weeks or more. Imagine the way this is affecting them. As you can see here (John Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center Map), this is something that is affecting the whole world. Many have grandparents or family members who are immunocompromised and are at greater risk of death if they become infected. Though we have not reached that point yet, other countries are having to tell family members that they don't have ventilators or medicine to help their situation. As such, and for many other reasons, people are dying. Please see it in your heart to be kind to one another and to support each other during these times. Bask in the love you all share for music or Britney or whatever/whomever. In times like these, we are all one and we should stand as such. With that said, I hope you all stay safe! I'll be visiting the site for some entertainment during my breaks. PS. You are all amazing. Link to comment

Maybe because they want kill (yes it's hard to read) some of them, because of the overpopulation..... On the good side, the pollution rate decreased a lot comparing the same time last year.... Wierd, isn't it? Maybe. After all, they had that one-child only policy for decades, and it caused huge numbers of forced abortions, even in the third trimester on healthy pregnancies, and it also caused great numbers of infanticide (newborns drowned in tubs, abandoned on the streets, etc.). It also caused a huge *** ratio imbalance in the country (since most parents would favour boys over girls). I would not put anything past certain élites. Link to comment

More seriously, it is indeed rather dangerous for elderly people or people with pre-existing conditions but I do think it gets blown out of proportion... Like Italy completely quarantined, really? As a gay man, I am much more worried about AIDS, which still has no cure and means a lifelong disease (even though now treatments are efficient). This post has aged well eh? The US now has the most cases in the world. 50,000 just in NY.. but keep worrying about AIDS right now. Link to comment

COVID-19 is a dangerous disease, creating a lot of anxiety, but with a low death rate compared to epidemics no one cared about like AIDS. It is estimated that AIDS killed between 23 and 44 million people since the beginning of the epidemic, with from 500,000 to 1 million in 2018 alone. And those are just rough estimates. So please educate yourself before posting your random thoughts. Link to comment

Your focus is way off, we have no clue how this is going to affect the world. Your still talking about it as if its mostly anxiety and all in our heads. The death toll, the toll on the economy will impact us MUCH more than AIDS or any other disease. You do understand that economy is truly ****ed right now right? No other event in history has ever done this. All you have to do is look at this from a broad perspective. Sorry i scratched an itch of yours, but lets not be negative and ignorant. Let's be realistic, right now we have to come together. This is going to wreck society. So let's be nice? Link to comment
