I also saved money for meals to buy albums. I had casettes CDs were expensive compared to MCs. First was probably Music by Madonna. Then Britney, Fever, Stripped.

oh I feel ya 

it was more of availability for me, sadly I couldn't collect everything I want to from Britney, PINK and JLO as not everything was imported to where I am from 

it wasn't until online shopping became a thing I started to get CDs in regular bases

Actually the first album I bought with my own money was Britney's B InThe Mix (does it count as an album?)... but the first album I ever own (thanks Mom) was Spice World and it's still one of my top 3 favorite album

The first album in physical was Glory around a year ago and the first digital album was When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? by Billie when it came out.
