I am going to give my honest opinion: She lacks star power by herself - as a leader of a team she looks empowered and there is so much going on with coordination with the other group members and every character in the group brings something different (even if they are glorified backup dancers). Also, her solo single choices (or the songs offered to her management) sucks for the most part, or all those song become generic because of her somewhat bland voice/personality. I can honestly compare her to J-Lo, only she has talent for singing, but with the same problems - She puts too much power on appearing diva-ish and non-relatable that she becomes that - people are gonna like her photos and stories, but music wise there's so many pop divas that the market is over-saturated. Britney has been serving real teas, relatability, cuteness tied in with dancing persona, Pink has been selling motivational stories/inspiration and acrobatics, Katy Perry has been making catchy mindless bops with colorful visuals, Adele is the vocal powerhouse, Avril has been quirky and rebellious (I do know she is somewhat becoming irrelevant but she was super popular back then and some), Ariana is a descendant of Mariah with the perks of being a young gorgeous millennial, Rihanna is a super cool bad ***** and is owning it. Nicole does not tell any kind of story - she is this star that knows how to dance and is ****, but her character from as much as we know - she has been only painted like a ***** that wants all the spotlight to her - and the music does not tell us much more ('Right There' had some Hawaiian vibes though which I loved but this and Heartbeat seem to be the only exceptions!). P.S. Always found her 'bulimia' argument about her behavior super laughable. She has her whole life been a super skinny model body-wise. Did she somehow managed to get out of bulimia and learn how to be healthy that thin as well? Also, how did her having bulimia justify her being a ***** towards other members? P.P.S. The performance was great. It's not innovative per say (Fifth Harmony did it similar), but Fifth Harmony are not all **** per say and they always try to have their vocals in the forefront (in sacrifice to better dance routines). And also, some of them are barely able to coordinate themselves in space let alone dance (sorry Ally) I agree with a lot of this. I don’t want to make excuses for Nicole, but she clearly only took being a PCD as a job and a chance for advancement for her own career. Because that’s what she was promised. She was the only one with the experience and was given leadership over of group. I don’t think they expected PCD to become as popular as it did. They lacked management that understood the music business, (Robin) had too much creative control and let the situation get out of hand by keeping the other girls in the back while the group became popular and changes were needed that came with the success. Destinys Child suffered the same backlash and made alternations to the group (shared leads and solos to show the appearance of equality) to keep the fans and general public happy. PCD did not. Logically in their mind (Robin, Nicole and management) believed since Nicole did all of the work the other girls weren’t as important and people would accept it as it was because the first album was so successful. And it crashed almost immediately before the second era even ended.
Marlean Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 I really like the performance, but WHAT FALLS DOWN with the second girl (the blond) from the left when she falls down to the male dancers? Anyone knows?

I had to look it up since I had missed it. Seriously? That looked like a mess. I much more perfer the PCD to that mess.

Crayboy Posted December 3, 2019 Posted December 3, 2019 I’m hoping things do change. The other girls can sing too. Thi it does make sense because Nicole is on the show, so it is only natural that she haa the spotlight I do hope they change the algorithm for the tour and songs because people do want to see and hear the others. If nothing will change then it won’t really work in today’s industry

To me, Nicole lacks stage charisma; she's not interesting to watch alone and her live vocals have always sounded bland to me regardless of how many high notes she can hit. I'm not a big PCD fan but where was Melody? If they're reuniting then I want Melody back, at least she had character! This looked too much like a typical Nicole Swesdfljfadsifhsdfiosd performance. Hasn't she learned that PCD is more than just her? This is a character group with the lead singer Nicole. Show us the other characters too or gtfo Nicole.

Anyone else notice the pattern that every time Britney is on a break, they always shuffle in the PCD? They were formed to pick up where Brit left off in 2004-2005 when everyone thought she was done. And now again filling her void in 2019. Literally how I became a PCD stan. They were filling that void where Britney was missing in 2005-2007.

Tbh, I completely agree with your point that Nicole has never had any selling point as a solo artist, she works so much better within a girl group setting. I think part of it is that she also feels more confident when accompanied by others on stage, I've never really found many of her solo performances as gripping or exuding star energy than when she's with the Dolls. Not sure I agree with your bullimia comment, I think if you can't understand it, it's best to not comment on that one - none of us can really know what she went through mentally. But I think for most people when you're going through a dark time, you can very easily spread that dark energy to those closest around you without realising.

As others have already pointed out, their costumes do look a bit like Britney's from the "Pretty Girls" performance. In both performances (this new one and the legendary AMA 2006), I noticed one thing: they don't really look like a group when dancing. It really feels like they'd need a few more rehearsals. The best way I can describe it is a group project where each of the group's members have a different amount of experience and knowledge about the subject (if that makes sense). Wait what the? I've never seen this and im now dying

I've never seen this and im now dying From what I saw on Twitter, the rumours are that Nicole locked Melody in a closet before the performance but during it, Melody broke out and that's why she only appears right at the end. As revenge, she decided to go rogue with Xtina-like vocals and it visibly pissed Nicole off.

No offence, but this exudes *** appeal and they owned that stage and did more moves than Brit does in her whole show. This proves that all the excuses are just that: excuses. You can dance like your prime. Britney is under a conservatorship, on so many damn ***** (that the c-ship forces) that I'm surprised she can even dance at all, and is over her career. So they are not excuses. Get over yourself and change your icon.
frederiickx Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 I *think* the other girls will get more shine on new singles, but it was hard to give them any shine when the old songs are pretty much all Nicole as is. If the new album doesn't have the other girls singing more, I will unstan. The performance was good but Nicole needs to realize she is not the star. She's the lead singer, but no one really cares for just Nicole. We like the GROUP. So the other girls like Ashley need more shine. I wish Melody had returned, but I think she wasn't so sure they would get many lead parts. If it's just Nicole again then people will get annoyed and bail just like they did on her solo career which basically no one was here for. Something about Nicole is just very boring. She's a good dancer, OK singer but that's it. I mean let's face it, Nicole couldn't even release an album in the US. It was shelved always.

This pointless “I don’t agree with you so I attack the person you’re a fan of” makes you sound childish and pathetic.
asitalian12587 Posted December 4, 2019 Posted December 4, 2019 it was solid but nothing crazy. nicole also was off timing-wise. i enjoyed it though, especially with the state of bland pop music these days.
Kalison Kimanda Posted December 5, 2019 Posted December 5, 2019 I don’t think people realize Nicole had the spotlight because they were performing on HER show that she is a judge on. This is just the first performance — Nicole already said she’ll be taking backseat for the reunion so I have no doubts the others (especially Jessica and Carmit) will get the chance to shine.
