Selena Gomez just released the best pop song of the year with "Look At Her Now" - great minimal production, stunning MV, simple but effective choreo, deep lyrics but easy to sing live as the chorus would all be backing track AND... AND to make it even worse - Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels wrote it so it literally could've been Britney's. It could've been on her 10th studio album if Glory had a follow up in the usual 2/3 year cycle. 

 

I don't blame Britney. I blame Team Spears for imprisoning her in a financial web and ruining her life and career. 

 

But Selena stans are lucky. Hands To Myself, Kill 'Em With Kindness are also stunning songs which should've been Britney's. I can just imagine Brit's deep live voice nailing the latter.

This song has absolutely nothing to do with Britney. Selena is also one of the songwriters and it reflects her life and her current state of mind.

For all the things to blame Team Britney for, this isn't one of them. It wouldn't make sense for Britney to sing these lyrics anyway since it would be a lie. I'd rather she releases a song that reflects her own life story at the right time.

Why is it that whenever an artist or song becomes successful, you guys always want Britney to work with them or wish it was her song? This song has no ties or meaning to Britney at all. Britney should be striving to create something meaningful and creative to her, not just hopping on whatever is popular or trying to use someone else’s success to be successful. 
 

This is not a personal attack against you OP. I’m just very annoyed that every time there is a new successful song or artist, someone has to come to Exhale and say how it should’ve been Britney instead or how Britney should work with them.

Not when Kesha's new song "Raising Hell", Taylor Swift's "Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince", and Charli XCX's "Gone" exist. 

But I do like Selena's new music. I was a little disappointed by "Lose You To Love Me", becuase I was expecting an upbeat synth-pop track from the people who produced it - Mattman & Robin. The song grew on me, though. I like it now. 

"Look At Her Now." is pretty cool too, but nothing to rave about.

Well, the song only just came out so it may flop. It's not about success. It's about an artist coming out with a vibrant video with some choreo (something we don't see much from the likes of Taylor Swift, Adele, Ariana... etc etc...) a song with lyrics from the heart but with a beat. 

 

I don't remember the last time Brit made a comeback where the song, video and choreo were all amazing. WB had the video and choreo, but the song was a slow burner. HIAM had the song and video but the choreo was lacking. Womanizer had everything I guess but that was 11 long years ago.

Wow, I really hate this song. I do like Selena but I find it so dumb and a little desperate. She starting to come across like Justin Timberlake who would continously sing about Britney. I get that she's embracing who she is now and where she's come from but it's been a couple years and the dude is married, like move on woman. She needs to get a life and new material to write about. I mean look at Miley her divorce is not even final and she's been in two relationships after Liam, with a man and a woman. Sis is living her best life.

Selena Gomez can thank Disney and Justin's c*ck for her career. I have never seen a more blant pop girl (aside from Taylor Swift). She WHISPERS into the mic, she can't dance (those stiff movements are painful to watch, girl I thought you are latina??), has 0 perfomance skills or a f**king personality. 
 

Imagine being named after Selena Quintanilla-Pérez and NOT be able to dance. GIRL!

No matter how low Britney's perfomances are, she is still better than most of today's popgirls and this is just SAD. These girls have no energy, no drive, no charisma it's embarassing!!

Thank you!  I thought I was the only one who thought she sounded like a whispering goose on every one of her songs. I don’t dislike her or anything but I’ve always noticed.
