I am sure he showed signs of sickness prior to it rupturing.  It just makes too much sense looking back now.  You guys love to portray Jamie as a monster but Britney and her father are very close and I know she loves him.  Plus I am sure security concerns with touring made her anxiety rise as well as it did Taylor Swift last year.
