Whether it had been a single or not, she was not going to promote the song. IWG got no promotion outside of the tour, neither did Criminal, the era was dead by the time the tour hit outside of the VMA's because the promotion wasn't all Exhale has been glamorizing it lately.

HIAM didn't get promoted until almost the album release date.

TTWE had a few performances that were both panned and greatly overpraised, she did do the choreo the best she could.

IWG only had the video.

Criminal nothing.

but the songs were so incredibly good (Max Martin :whatitellu: ) and her performance skills were so, not so cute, that it was fine the lack of promo. She was still being successful. But by the end of the year she had gotten in better shape and looked less zombie-ish. THAT's when the real era should've been started, with a few more singles: Up 'n Down, Inside Out, Trip to Your Heart, Scary, Trouble for Me.

Criminal could've done so much better if it didn't get the age restriction from YouTube. RCA clearly didn't know or care about how to handle the situation. RCA after absorbing Britney from Jive, should've taken advantage of that and maybe re-release FF, just as I said, releasing more singles from the album like a Part 2 of the era.

It would have done better yes but also one of the biggest fan gripes was she wasn't promoting while Gaga at the time was over-promoting Born This Way and it singles.

If singles tank, labels are less likely to put more money to push out more especially given she was already on tour and that was their main priority. We're lucky we even got Criminal which itself isn't a bad song, it just isn't radio friendly and the video being flagged didn't help either. I doubt they would have ever re-released FF unless they had debuted a new song which would have been a hit. That surely would have made them tack it on as a track.
