Britney changed that in the sense her last album, Femme Fatale, had been very successful, yet she was going there. Spoiler The fact her career sank right after is only a coincidence. 6 Link to comment

You can reach and potentially say she attracted a younger audience but again even if Britney never launched her residency, someone like JLo or Mariah was bound to have their own because I guarantee you that Cardi didn’t even think about ‘Britney’s impact’ when launching this residency, nor did Drake. Idk, I just feel like some of y’all are reaching but I said what I said, even if it’s an unpopular opinion. Pop stars weren’t doing residencies because it was seen as a place artists go to “settle down” or even retire while still making a buck. Once they saw Britney making millions and bringing in a younger crowd, giving Vegas not only a new life but a totally new demographic, is when artists and their teams saw Vegas as a venture they could do too. They may not actively think of Britney’s impact, but they know Vegas is an option for them to still be relevant, successful, and have an easier life than on the road. Which is because of Britney, whether they are aware of it or not. It is a documented fact. Look at the numbers. Casinos, hotels, restaurants, other shows, all had a boost because of the crowds of people now making trips to see their pop princess do something her peers hadn’t done yet. 8 Link to comment

If she didn't do it first, as young as she was in 2013, Vegas would still be a place for old singers who are about to retire. Forbes recognized Britney's influence in others to do the same and her impact in Vegas, it's time for you to do the same 7 Link to comment

Reveal hidden contents The fact her career sank right after is only a coincidence. that’s unfair to say because Celine’s previous era before her residency was also a successful one with a #1 album and a lot of ww success. Celine was also about 13 years into her commercial career before she launched her residency in 2003. Britney, about 14. You also have to keep in mind that Britney was the most successful teenage artist the world had ever seen to date, as in she became a sensation overnight at such a young age, so for Britney, it wasn’t uncommon for her to achieve certain milestones at a younger age than most. Not to mention, she catered more towards a younger audience unlike many artists before her. In Cardi B’s case, and if I’m not mistaken, she’s probably the first artist to launch a Vegas residency with only one album out while still in her 20’s. That’s a huge accomplishment and I wouldn’t be surprised if the future of Vegas residencies will be modeled after that. Link to comment

Forbes recognized Britney's influence in others to do the same and her impact in Vegas, it's time for you to do the same Disagree. Britney may have been one of the first ‘younger’ artists but that’s only because she launched her career at a very young age. Before Britney’s debut, it wasn’t very common for teenagers to see success in the way that she did. After Britney’s debut, there was an obvious paradigm shift in a way that artists catered to more of a younger crowd and audience. I said all of what I’m about to say in the post above: Celine was also about 13 years into her commercial career before she launched her residency in 2003. Britney, about 14. For an artist like Britney, it wasn’t uncommon for her to achieve certain milestones at a younger age than most. Not to mention, she catered more towards a youger audience unlike many artists before her. In Cardi B’s case, and if I’m not mistaken, she’s probably the first artist to launch a Vegas residency with only one album out while still in her 20’s. That’s a huge accomplishment and I wouldn’t be surprised if the future of Vegas residencies will be modeled after that. My point stands that y’all are reaching and if there’s anything Britney actually influenced, it’s the fact that she gave leeway for more younger artists to do well and succeed (and I’m talking about her first couple eras). Again, I see it as more of an actual paradigm shift rather than ‘Britney’s impact’, keeping in mind that Britney was the first successful young pop star in a while when she launched. Britney just happened to be the first YOUNGER pop artist to launch a residency. I see your point and valid argument but I feel, had Britney not stepped in, someone other pop star would have filled in the void. Again, I’m not disagreeing with what you said but rather that I feel like it’s a reach when an artist from an entire different caliber like Cardi B or Drake comes to Vegas and suddenly Britney fans are perched behind their keyboard stating “her impact”. It just seems foolish. If anything, Cardi is the one with only 1 album out, less than 2 years into her career, launching a residency. That has never been done before and I wouldn’t be surprised if the future of Vegas residencies is modeled after Cardi B. 1 Link to comment
