The difference is, with SNL and HIMYM, she had time to actually prepare for it because they give the script well in advance and rehearse it.  For things like Jimmy Fallon and most live skits, they literally rush them onto stage and they don't know what to say because they probably only learn about it when they get there or sometimes just on the spot.

She had a script for Jane The Virgin, and her acting was not that great, even though she was playing herself.

SNL isn't funny. I'd rather her be performing new music on there than doing lame skits.
